Positioned strategically within the consumer and productivity market, the OmniBook 3 17 aims to bridge the gap between desktop-replacement utility and modern mobile computing demands, particularly by integrating dedicated neural processing units (NPUs) to handle localized artificial intelligence workloads.

The launch of the OmniBook 3 17 reflects a broader industry shift toward integrating advanced AI capabilities into everyday computing form factors. As software ecosystems increasingly rely on machine learning algorithms for enhanced productivity, video conferencing, and automated system optimization, manufacturers are racing to equip mid-range and high-end laptops with hardware accelerators. HP’s decision to build the OmniBook 3 series around Intel’s Wildcat Lake platform underlines the company’s commitment to offering scalable performance configurations that address varying consumer budgets and computational needs.

Processor Configurations and AI Capabilities

At the heart of the HP OmniBook 3 17 is a selection of Intel processors belonging to the Wildcat Lake generation. HP offers three distinct CPU options for this model, ranging from the entry-level Core 5 315 up to the more powerful Core 7 350. Each of these processing units features a 6-core and 6-thread architecture, ensuring consistent multi-threading efficiency across the lineup. However, higher-tier variants distinguish themselves by offering elevated clock boost frequencies and enhanced onboard NPU performance.

The base-tier Core 5 315 processor is equipped with an integrated NPU capable of delivering up to 15 TOPS (Tera Operations Per Second) of AI processing power. This inclusion ensures that even entry-level buyers gain access to baseline artificial intelligence acceleration, which is increasingly vital for running features integrated into modern operating systems, such as advanced security protocols, real-time audio filtering, and local generative AI applications. Higher-end configurations scale these performance metrics further, providing faster data handling for demanding multitasking scenarios.

Memory, Storage, and Connectivity Options

To complement its processing foundation, the HP OmniBook 3 17 offers a highly configurable memory and storage architecture. Users can customize the laptop with DDR5-5600 RAM capacities ranging from 8GB, 12GB, 16GB, and 24GB, all the way up to a robust 32GB. This high-capacity memory ceiling makes the laptop well-suited for heavy multitasking, data analysis, and running resource-intensive software suites without performance degradation.

Storage requirements are handled via fast PCIe Gen 4 NVMe solid-state drives. HP provides three primary storage tiers: 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. This ensures that users can select a configuration aligned with their data storage habits, whether they require ample space for media libraries and large project files or prioritize faster boot times and cloud-based synchronization.

In terms of wireless connectivity, the OmniBook 3 17 embraces modern networking standards. Depending on the chosen configuration, the laptop supports either Wi-Fi 6 or the ultra-fast Wi-Fi 7 protocol, alongside Bluetooth 5.4 or the newly adopted Bluetooth 6.0 standard. These advanced wireless options guarantee lower latency, improved connection stability, and faster data transfer rates in crowded network environments.

Display Options and Visual Ergonomics

Display versatility is a primary selling point for the HP OmniBook 3 17, given its expansive 17.3-inch form factor. HP provides two distinct panel categories to accommodate different visual preferences and budgetary considerations.

The entry-level display configuration utilizes a Twisted Nematic (TN) panel featuring a 900p resolution and a maximum brightness level of 250 nits. While this option serves basic office productivity and web browsing adequately, users seeking higher visual fidelity can opt for the superior In-Plane Switching (IPS) panel. The IPS variant offers a 1080p Full HD resolution and increases peak brightness to 300 nits, providing broader viewing angles and more accurate color reproduction. Furthermore, HP has made both panel types available in touch-enabled and non-touch configurations, allowing consumers to tailor their physical interaction methods to their specific workflow preferences.

Power Management and Battery Configurations

Managing energy consumption across a large 17.3-inch display requires flexible power solutions. To address this, HP has integrated two distinct battery capacity options into the OmniBook 3 17 lineup: a standard 41Wh battery and a higher-capacity 68Wh variant.

Users who prioritize maximum mobility and extended away-from-the-desk usage will benefit significantly from the 68Wh battery configuration, particularly when paired with the energy-efficient optimizations of the Intel Wildcat Lake architecture. Conversely, the 41Wh battery serves as a lighter, cost-effective alternative for users who primarily operate within fixed desk environments where continuous access to AC power is readily available.

Pricing Structure and Market Positioning

The commercial rollout of the HP OmniBook 3 17 introduces a tiered pricing model designed to capture a wide spectrum of the consumer market. In the United States, base-tier configurations start at an accessible price point of USD 999, translating to approximately Rp16 million based on prevailing exchange rates. This entry price provides consumers with a large-screen productivity device backed by modern processing architecture.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, fully loaded configurations carrying the Core 7 350 processor, 32GB of RAM, a 1TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD, the larger 68Wh battery, and the 1080p IPS display panel are priced at USD 2,029, or roughly Rp33 million. This strategic pricing spread allows HP to compete effectively against rival manufacturers offering similar desktop-replacement form factors powered by contemporary Intel and AMD silicon.

Industry Context and Strategic Implications

The introduction of the OmniBook 3 17 arrives at a critical juncture for the personal computer industry. Following years of post-pandemic market stabilization, manufacturers are increasingly focusing on value-driven innovation rather than experimental form factors. The integration of Intel’s Wildcat Lake processors into a 17-inch chassis underscores a persistent demand for large-screen laptops among students, remote workers, and home-office professionals who prefer expansive displays over ultra-portable designs.

From an analytical perspective, the inclusion of dedicated NPU hardware across all tiers of the OmniBook 3 17 signals that AI acceleration is no longer a luxury reserved exclusively for premium flagship devices. By democratizing access to sub-20 TOPS neural processing within mid-range productivity machines, HP is actively preparing its consumer base for an operating system environment where AI features run locally rather than through cloud-based datacenters.

Furthermore, the launch aligns with a broader industry trend where traditional notebook manufacturers are rationalizing their branding architectures. The consolidation of consumer laptops under the OmniBook banner simplifies product identification for retail buyers, contrasting with historical naming conventions that often relied on alphanumeric series codes that proved confusing to mainstream consumers.

Consumer Reception and Outlook

Initial industry response to the unveiling of the HP OmniBook 3 17 has been characterized by cautious optimism. Technology analysts have praised the breadth of customization options—particularly the availability of up to 32GB of RAM and dual Wi-Fi/Bluetooth standards—which ensure that the hardware remains relevant for several years. However, reviewers have noted that the inclusion of an entry-level 900p TN panel option at lower price points may deter users accustomed to high-definition mobile displays, making the 1080p IPS upgrade a strongly recommended choice for most buyers.

As the laptops begin rolling out to global markets, market researchers will monitor how effectively HP’s pricing strategy translates into actual sales volume, particularly in regions sensitive to currency fluctuations and importation costs. The success of the OmniBook 3 17 will likely serve as a litmus test for consumer appetite regarding large-screen, AI-capable laptops positioned in the competitive mid-to-high tier segment.

Conclusion

The HP OmniBook 3 17 represents a thoughtful synthesis of screen real estate, processing capability, and modern connectivity. By leveraging Intel’s Wildcat Lake processors and incorporating scalable memory, storage, and display configurations, HP has constructed a versatile computing platform capable of addressing diverse professional and personal workflows. As the PC market continues its evolution toward localized artificial intelligence and enhanced energy efficiency, devices like the OmniBook 3 17 establish a new baseline for what consumers can expect from mainstream desktop-replacement laptops.

Ustaz Adi Hidayat Ajak Taubat Nasional Begini Cara yang Dianjurkan

by Lina Irawan
written by Lina Irawan

In a significant call to collective reflection, prominent Indonesian Islamic scholar Ustaz Adi Hidayat has urged the nation to engage in a movement of national repentance, or taubat nasional. This appeal, issued on Thursday, September 10, 2026, comes against a backdrop of various socio-political and environmental challenges currently facing Indonesia. According to the scholar, such moments of national turbulence should serve as a spiritual catalyst for citizens to introspect, recalibrate their moral compass, and strengthen their relationship with the Divine.

The call to repentance, disseminated via various digital platforms including the social media account @lambesahamjja, transcends the simplistic notion of verbal apology. Instead, it frames taubat as a holistic process encompassing psychological awareness, profound regret, and a concrete commitment to behavioral reform. As the nation navigates a complex period of transition, the emphasis on spiritual grounding is being positioned as a stabilizing force for the public.

The Theological Framework of Repentance

Within Islamic jurisprudence and spiritual guidance, the concept of taubat is multifaceted. Ustaz Adi Hidayat emphasizes that true repentance is not a static ritual but a dynamic transformation. It begins with the intellectual and emotional recognition of errors, whether they are moral lapses, social injustices, or failures in personal responsibility.

The process, as outlined by the scholar, involves three core pillars:

  1. Recognition and Awareness: Acknowledging the specific transgression before the Creator.
  2. Remorse (Nadama): A genuine sense of regret that serves as an emotional deterrent against future repetition.
  3. Firm Intent (Azm): A resolute decision to abandon the harmful act and replace it with positive, constructive behavior.

This framework suggests that repentance is an active duty. For the modern Indonesian citizen, this implies that systemic or societal issues—such as corruption, social inequality, or environmental degradation—are not merely political concerns but moral ones that require a collective shift in consciousness.

Chronology of Recent Challenges and Public Sentiment

The timing of this appeal follows several months of heightened instability in the region. Since early 2026, Indonesia has faced a confluence of economic pressures and natural challenges. In the first quarter of the year, several provinces experienced significant flooding, leading to infrastructure strain and displacement. Simultaneously, the labor market has faced volatility, sparking public discourse on economic equity and the ethical responsibilities of those in power.

In June 2026, social analysts noted a surge in public disillusionment, reflected in online forums and community gatherings. By August 2026, the discussion shifted from mere economic grievances to broader questions about societal morality and governance. It is within this climate of anxiety and search for meaning that religious figures like Ustaz Adi Hidayat have stepped forward to provide a spiritual framework for processing national stress.

The Role of Istighfar in Contemporary Society

A central component of the recommended practice is the act of istighfar, or seeking forgiveness. Ustaz Adi Hidayat highlights that the recitation of "Astaghfirullah" is a practice that can be integrated into daily routines, regardless of one’s profession or social status.

In a secular sense, this practice functions as a cognitive exercise in mindfulness. By consistently acknowledging one’s fallibility, an individual is less likely to succumb to hubris or unethical behavior in the workplace. Research into spiritual psychology suggests that regular practices of humility—such as prayer or meditation—correlate with lower levels of stress and higher levels of social cooperation. By framing istighfar as a public, national endeavor, the scholar is essentially calling for a widespread psychological reset.

Comparative Perspectives on National Repentance

Historically, the concept of a "national day of prayer" or a "call to repentance" is not unique to Indonesia or to Islam. Many nations have turned to spiritual or ethical reflection in times of crisis. For instance, in various Western democracies, leaders have historically issued proclamations of national humility during periods of war or severe economic depression.

In the Indonesian context, however, this appeal holds specific weight due to the country’s foundational identity as a nation with a strong religious demographic. The call by Ustaz Adi Hidayat aligns with the "Pancasila" values, which place belief in the One God at the forefront of the national philosophy. Experts in sociology of religion observe that when prominent scholars call for such measures, it often serves to de-escalate political tension, redirecting the public’s focus toward self-improvement rather than external conflict.

Implications for Policy and Social Harmony

While the call is primarily religious, its implications for public policy and social cohesion are significant. If a large segment of the population adopts a mindset of self-reflection, it could lead to a reduction in reactive social behaviors. For instance, if the process of taubat includes the restoration of rights—such as returning misappropriated funds or apologizing for slanderous speech—the result would be a measurable improvement in the quality of public discourse.

Furthermore, the emphasis on "not waiting for perfection" is a pragmatic approach to governance and civil society. By acknowledging that all humans are flawed, the movement encourages a culture of accountability and continuous improvement rather than a "cancel culture" that focuses solely on punishment.

The Path Forward: Beyond Rituals

As the nation moves forward, the success of this movement will likely depend on whether the rhetoric translates into action. Observers point out that the true test of a national repentance movement is the tangible change in social conduct. This includes:

  • Transparency in Leadership: Encouraging those in positions of authority to own their mistakes and correct course.
  • Economic Integrity: A decline in bribery and corruption as individuals commit to higher ethical standards.
  • Community Reconciliation: Using the spirit of repentance to heal divisions caused by political polarization in recent years.

Ustaz Adi Hidayat’s message is a reminder that in times of crisis, the most potent tool for change is the individual. By encouraging millions of people to look inward, the scholar is attempting to build a foundation of moral resilience that can withstand the pressures of an uncertain future.

Conclusion: A Spiritual Reset for 2026

The call for taubat nasional is a significant event in the Indonesian calendar for 2026. It serves as a bridge between the traditional teachings of Islam and the modern necessity for psychological and social stability. Whether or not this call leads to a widespread shift in national character remains to be seen, but the emphasis on introspection, humility, and the pursuit of righteousness provides a clear, actionable framework for those seeking to contribute to the nation’s recovery.

As the country continues to navigate the complexities of the mid-2020s, the intersection of faith and civic responsibility will remain a critical area of study. For now, the message is clear: the path to national progress begins with the individual’s commitment to self-correction, a process that is as relevant in the halls of power as it is in the quiet of a prayer room. This movement, while grounded in religious terminology, offers a universal message of accountability that may well be the necessary tonic for a nation in search of its collective balance.

Ini Perceraian Termahal Abad Ini! Nilainya Capai Rp11 Triliun

by Lina Irawan
written by Lina Irawan

The high court’s ruling represents a slight downward adjustment from an earlier, even more massive valuation. In early 2024, a lower court had initially ordered Chairman Chey to pay 1.38 trillion won. However, following a rigorous review and appeals process, the figure was revised to the current 944 billion won. Despite the reduction, the amount remains unprecedented, underscoring the immense wealth concentrated within the SK Group leadership and the complex intersection of family ties, political history, and corporate expansion in South Korea.

The Magnitude of the Settlement

The financial scale of the settlement is nearly impossible to overstate. To put the 944 billion won figure into perspective, it represents a significant portion of the liquid assets available to one of the world’s most powerful business leaders. The case has captivated the public not only because of the wealth involved but because of the status of the individuals. Chey Tae-won leads SK Group, the second-largest conglomerate in South Korea by market capitalization, trailing only Samsung. His ex-wife, Roh Soh-yeong, is the daughter of the late Roh Tae-woo, a former general who served as the President of South Korea from 1988 to 1993.

The legal battle has focused heavily on how much of Chey’s wealth—much of which is tied up in SK Group shares—is considered "separate property" versus "marital property." Under South Korean law, assets acquired during a marriage are generally subject to division, but assets inherited or owned prior to the marriage are often exempt. The court’s decision to award such a high amount suggests that the judiciary recognized Roh’s indirect contributions to the company’s stability and growth over their three-decade-long marriage.

The History of a High-Profile Union

The union of Chey Tae-won and Roh Soh-yeong was once seen as the ultimate "power marriage," bridging the worlds of high-stakes commerce and top-level politics. The pair married in 1988, the same year Roh’s father was inaugurated as president. At the time, SK Group (then known as the Sunkyong Group) was a successful but mid-sized conglomerate primarily focused on textiles and oil refining.

Over the next thirty years, SK Group underwent a meteoric rise, diversifying into telecommunications, semiconductors, and green energy. A pivotal moment in this expansion was the acquisition of Korea Mobile Telecommunications Corp (now SK Telecom) in the 1990s, a move that critics and legal analysts have long debated. Roh’s legal team argued during the divorce proceedings that her father’s political influence and secret funds provided to the Chey family were instrumental in facilitating these acquisitions and shielding the group from various regulatory hurdles.

The Public Scandal and Legal Escalation

The demise of the marriage became a public scandal in 2015 when Chey Tae-won took the extraordinary step of publishing a letter in a major newspaper. In the letter, he admitted to having a child out of wedlock with another woman and expressed his intention to seek a divorce from Roh. He revealed that his relationship with Roh had been strained for many years and that he had found "emotional comfort" with a new partner, later identified as Kim Hee-young, the chairperson of the T&C Foundation.

Initially, Roh Soh-yeong resisted the divorce, citing a desire to keep the family together despite the public humiliation. However, in 2019, she changed her stance and filed a countersuit, demanding a significant portion of Chey’s shares in SK Inc., the holding company of the group. This shifted the case from a standard matrimonial dispute into a high-stakes corporate battle that threatened the management control of one of the world’s most vital technology suppliers.

The Legal Dispute Over Asset Division

The crux of the legal argument centered on the 17.6% stake Chey holds in SK Inc. Roh argued that the value of these shares grew substantially during their marriage due to the "slush funds" and political protection provided by her father. She initially demanded 50% of his stake. Chey’s legal team countered that the shares were "special property" inherited from his father, Chey Jong-hyun, and therefore should not be subject to division.

In the 2022 lower court ruling, the judge sided largely with Chey, awarding Roh only 66.5 billion won in cash and a small amount of alimony, ruling that the SK shares were indeed separate property. Roh appealed, and the high court’s subsequent 2024 ruling (and this latest revision) fundamentally disagreed with the lower court’s assessment. The high court acknowledged that Roh Tae-woo’s influence played a role in the "protective shield" that allowed SK Group to thrive, thereby making the wealth generated during that period subject to division.

Financial Implications for SK Group

The ruling has profound implications for the governance of SK Group. Because the majority of Chey’s wealth is tied up in shares of SK Inc., there are concerns that he may be forced to sell a portion of his holdings or take out massive loans to settle the 944 billion won payment. Such a move could potentially weaken his control over the conglomerate and leave the company vulnerable to hostile takeovers or activist investor pressure.

Ini Perceraian Termahal Abad Ini! Nilainya Capai Rp11 Triliun

SK Group is a cornerstone of the South Korean economy. It manages a vast portfolio of companies, the most prominent of which is SK Hynix. As the world’s second-largest memory chip maker, SK Hynix is a critical player in the global semiconductor supply chain. Any instability at the top of the parent holding company could have ripple effects across the tech industry, particularly as SK Hynix is currently a primary supplier of High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) chips to Nvidia, the leader in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) chip market.

The Role of SK Hynix in the Global Market

The timing of this divorce settlement coincides with a period of unprecedented growth and strategic importance for SK Hynix. The company recently made headlines for its record-breaking performance and its pivotal role in the AI revolution. By providing the essential memory components required for AI processing, SK Hynix has seen its stock price soar and its market influence expand.

Industry analysts are closely watching whether Chairman Chey will be forced to dilute his stake in the holding company to pay Roh. If he loses a significant portion of his voting rights, it could lead to changes in the board of directors or shifts in the company’s long-term investment strategies. This is particularly sensitive given the intense competition with rivals like Samsung Electronics and Micron Technology.

The Legacy of Roh Tae-woo and Political Influence

The court’s recognition of the role played by former President Roh Tae-woo adds a layer of historical and political complexity to the case. For decades, the relationship between South Korea’s political elite and the "chaebol" families has been a subject of intense scrutiny and occasional prosecution. This ruling effectively codifies the idea that political connections during the military-backed and early democratic eras of South Korea had a direct, quantifiable impact on corporate wealth accumulation.

By acknowledging that Roh Soh-yeong’s lineage contributed to SK Group’s success, the court has opened a Pandora’s box regarding how other chaebol fortunes might be viewed in future legal disputes. It challenges the narrative of the "self-made" billionaire in the context of South Korea’s unique economic history.

Societal Impact and the Future of Chaebol Governance

Beyond the finances, the "divorce of the century" reflects changing social norms in South Korea. Traditionally, the legal system was conservative regarding asset division, often favoring the primary breadwinner (usually the husband in high-profile cases). This ruling signals a more progressive interpretation of marital partnership, recognizing that the spouse of a CEO provides a form of "internal support" and social capital that is essential to the leader’s professional success.

Furthermore, the case highlights the ongoing call for "chaebol reform." Many in South Korea are calling for greater transparency and more robust corporate governance to prevent personal family matters from impacting the stability of companies that are vital to the national interest. The fact that a divorce can potentially disrupt the leadership of a global semiconductor giant is seen by some as a systemic risk inherent in the chaebol structure.

Official Responses and Next Steps

Following the announcement of the revised settlement, Chairman Chey Tae-won’s legal team issued a statement expressing deep regret over the public concern caused by the proceedings. "Chairman Chey Tae-won is very sorry that the process has caused worry for many people," the statement read. The lawyers emphasized that they would review the court’s reasoning in detail before filing a specific response or further appeals.

Despite the "finality" of high court rulings, in the South Korean legal system, there are still avenues for the Supreme Court to review the case if there are questions regarding the application of the law. As it stands, the 944 billion won order is a mandate that Chey must prepare for. Roh Soh-yeong’s legal team, meanwhile, has largely viewed the ruling as a victory for the recognition of a spouse’s rights, though they have not ruled out further legal maneuvers to ensure the prompt payment of the assets.

As the legal dust begins to settle, the focus shifts from the courtroom to the boardroom. The world will be watching how Chey Tae-won navigates this personal financial crisis while maintaining his grip on a corporate empire that sits at the heart of the global technology race. The "divorce of the century" may have reached a financial conclusion, but its impact on the future of SK Group and the landscape of South Korean business is likely to be felt for decades to come.

Rising Star Lamine Yamal Faces Public Scrutiny Over Relationship With Influencer Ines Garcia Santos Following World Cup Triumph

by Lina Irawan
written by Lina Irawan

The conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup has solidified Lamine Yamal’s status not only as a cornerstone of Spanish football but as the preeminent face of the sport’s new generation. Following Spain’s historic victory on the world stage, the Barcelona winger has found himself at the center of a media whirlwind that transcends his on-field exploits. While his professional achievements at the age of 19 have already surpassed the milestones reached by legends like Lionel Messi at a similar age, the glare of the spotlight has increasingly shifted toward his private life, specifically his burgeoning relationship with Spanish influencer Ines Garcia Santos.

The transition from a teenage prodigy to a global icon has been instantaneous for Yamal. However, the euphoria of Spain’s championship win has been partially overshadowed by a series of viral social media allegations concerning Garcia’s past. These claims, which suggest a complex history involving a previous long-term partner, have sparked a broader debate regarding the intersection of celebrity culture, social media scrutiny, and the personal lives of elite athletes.

The Meteoric Rise of a Global Icon

To understand the intensity of the public interest in Yamal’s personal affairs, one must first consider the magnitude of his professional success. By July 2026, Lamine Yamal has become a household name globally. His performance throughout the 2026 World Cup, hosted across North America, was characterized by a maturity that belied his years. He served as the creative engine of the Spanish "La Roja," contributing crucial goals and assists that led the team to its second world title.

Comparisons to Lionel Messi are no longer merely speculative; they are backed by a growing trophy cabinet. At 19, Yamal possesses a European Championship title (2024), a World Cup title (2026), and multiple domestic honors with FC Barcelona. In contrast, at the same age, Messi was just beginning to establish himself as a regular starter for the Catalan giants, with his first World Cup triumph still many years away. This unprecedented trajectory has made Yamal a primary target for paparazzi and digital "detectives" who track every move of the young star and those in his inner circle.

The Emergence of Ines Garcia Santos

As Yamal’s fame reached its zenith during the tournament, the presence of Ines Garcia Santos in the stands became a recurring theme for broadcasters and social media users. Garcia, a 21-year-old influencer known for her fashion and lifestyle content, was seen supporting the Spanish national team throughout their campaign. While the couple had kept their relationship relatively low-profile in the months leading up to the summer, their public interactions following the final match confirmed their romantic involvement to the public.

The relationship initially appeared to be a standard modern celebrity pairing: a world-class athlete and a high-profile digital creator. However, the honeymoon period of public approval was short-lived. Within days of the trophy presentation, the digital landscape was flooded with "expose" threads and archival photos that sought to challenge the narrative of the couple’s relationship.

Allegations and Social Media "Detective Work"

The controversy centers on Gonzalo Torres, a young man from Sevilla who is alleged to be Garcia’s former long-term partner. The scrutiny began when several social media accounts unearthed a series of older photographs and Instagram stories. One particular image, which became the focal point of the controversy, depicts Torres kissing Garcia on the forehead in a romantic setting. The caption accompanying the photo, reportedly written by Garcia, read, "I love you, baby," or "Te amo, cariño."

According to various unverified claims circulating on platforms such as X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok, Garcia and Torres were in a committed relationship for approximately five years. Some reports went as far as to suggest that the pair had discussed marriage before their sudden split. The timeline of this alleged breakup has become a point of contention; rumors suggest that Garcia ended her relationship with Torres shortly after Yamal reached out to her via Instagram direct messages.

These allegations have fueled a narrative among some sectors of the public that Garcia’s motives were opportunistic. Critics have accused the influencer of abandoning a long-term partner to pursue a relationship with Yamal for the purpose of increasing her own social capital and international visibility.

A Chronology of the Controversy

The timeline of these events highlights the rapid speed at which digital narratives are constructed in the modern era:

  1. June – July 2026: Ines Garcia Santos is seen at multiple World Cup venues in the United States and Mexico, wearing Yamal’s jersey and celebrating Spain’s progression through the knockout stages.
  2. July 19, 2026: Spain defeats its opponent in the World Cup Final. Yamal and Garcia are photographed together during the post-match celebrations on the pitch.
  3. July 21, 2026: The first "leaked" photos of Garcia and Gonzalo Torres begin to circulate on Spanish-language gossip forums.
  4. July 23, 2026: The story gains international traction, with major news outlets in the UK, US, and Asia picking up on the social media "detective" threads.
  5. July 24, 2026: Ines Garcia Santos issues a brief response via her social media channels, attempting to clarify her history with Torres.
  6. July 25, 2026: Public debate continues as fans analyze the veracity of the claims versus the influencer’s denial.

Official Responses and Fact-Checking Efforts

Despite the viral nature of the claims, there has been no independent verification of the more sensationalist aspects of the story. While the photos of Garcia and Torres appear to be authentic, they do not inherently prove a five-year engagement or a marriage proposal.

In a statement addressed to her followers during the final week of July, Ines Garcia Santos directly addressed the rumors. She denied that she had ever been in a romantic relationship of that nature with Gonzalo Torres, suggesting instead that the context of the photos had been misinterpreted or exaggerated by those seeking to create a scandal. She described the claims as "nonsensical" and urged the public to respect her privacy and that of her family.

Lamine Yamal has remained silent on the matter. Following the team’s victory parade in Madrid, the player has largely retreated from the public eye to enjoy a mandatory rest period before the start of the 2026/2027 La Liga season. His representatives have declined to comment on his personal life, maintaining a strict policy of focusing on his professional commitments.

The "WAG" Culture and the Digital Age

The situation involving Yamal and Garcia is emblematic of the evolving "WAG" (Wives and Girlfriends) culture in the age of the influencer. Historically, the partners of famous footballers were often shielded from the public eye or were celebrities in their own right through traditional media. Today, the partners of athletes are often influencers who maintain their own direct lines of communication with millions of followers.

This creates a dual-edged sword. While it allows individuals like Garcia to build their own brands, it also subjects them to intense scrutiny where every past interaction, "like," or "comment" is archived and available for public dissection. For a player like Yamal, who is still navigating the transition to adulthood, this environment presents unique psychological and reputational challenges.

Broader Implications and Analysis

The backlash against Ines Garcia Santos reflects a recurring theme in sports media: the "villainization" of female partners. When a high-profile athlete’s performance or personal life becomes a topic of debate, the focus often shifts toward the influence of their romantic partners. In this case, the narrative of the "social climber" is a familiar trope that often lacks substantive evidence but gains traction due to its sensationalist nature.

From a brand management perspective, the controversy highlights the risks associated with the hyper-visibility of modern athletes. Lamine Yamal is currently one of the most valuable commercial properties in world sport, with endorsement deals totaling tens of millions of euros. While his on-field performance is his primary asset, his "image rights" are heavily dependent on his public perception as a wholesome, focused, and disciplined young man.

Market analysts suggest that while these rumors are unlikely to damage Yamal’s career in the long term, they serve as a "baptism by fire" for his management team. Managing the personal narrative of a 19-year-old superstar in a world where "cancel culture" and viral misinformation are prevalent requires a sophisticated approach to public relations.

Conclusion: Navigating Fame in the Post-World Cup Era

As the dust settles on Spain’s World Cup victory, Lamine Yamal remains the undisputed crown jewel of Spanish football. However, the saga involving Ines Garcia Santos and Gonzalo Torres serves as a reminder that the price of global stardom often includes the loss of personal anonymity.

The lack of verified evidence regarding Garcia’s past relationship suggests that much of the outcry may be rooted in the speculative nature of social media rather than factual reality. Nevertheless, the episode has provided a glimpse into the complexities of being a modern sporting icon. For Yamal, the challenge moving forward will be to maintain his extraordinary level of performance on the pitch while insulating his private life from the inevitable noise of a hyper-connected world.

As of late July 2026, the focus for Yamal returns to Barcelona, where he is expected to lead the club’s charge for domestic and European glory. Whether the public’s fascination with his personal life will wane or intensify remains to be seen, but for now, the young star appears determined to let his football do the talking, even as the digital world continues to whisper.

The appeal of electric motorcycles in Indonesia is multifaceted. Economically, the promise of significantly lower operational costs is a major draw. While the initial purchase price of an e-moto might be higher than a conventional internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycle, the savings on fuel (electricity costs are substantially lower than petrol) and reduced maintenance requirements (fewer moving parts, no oil changes) quickly offset this. Industry analyses project that e-moto owners could save upwards of 70% on daily running costs compared to their petrol-powered counterparts. This economic advantage is particularly pertinent in a country where fuel price fluctuations can heavily impact household budgets.

Environmentally, the benefits are undeniable. E-motos produce zero tailpipe emissions, contributing directly to cleaner air quality in congested urban centers like Jakarta, Surabaya, and Bandung. With growing public awareness about climate change and pollution, the ‘green’ aspect of e-motos resonates strongly with a segment of the population, especially younger generations. Studies suggest that a widespread shift to electric two-wheelers could lead to a substantial reduction in urban carbon footprints, aligning with Indonesia’s national commitments under the Paris Agreement.

Technological advancements are also a critical enabler. Battery technology, a cornerstone of EV performance, has seen remarkable progress. By 2026, improvements in energy density will allow for longer ranges (typically 100-150 km on a single charge for urban commuters), faster charging times (potentially under 2 hours for a significant charge), and enhanced battery longevity. The proliferation of battery swapping stations, championed by several manufacturers and charging network providers, further addresses range anxiety and convenience, making e-motos a more practical choice for daily use. Digital integration, smart connectivity features, and advanced rider assistance systems (ARAS) are becoming standard, transforming the riding experience into a more intuitive and safer one.

Behind the growth of many Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) in Indonesia stands a generation of scholars whose lives were defined by relentless learning, unwavering sincerity, and lifelong service to society. One of them was KH. Jauhari Zawawi, a respected Indonesian Muslim scholar whose intellectual journey stretched from the villages of Central Java to the holy city of Makkah before culminating in the establishment of one of East Java’s influential pesantren. His life reflects the classical Islamic tradition of seeking knowledge across generations of teachers while dedicating every stage of life to education, da’wah, and community leadership. Born into a devout family with deep historical roots, KH. Jauhari Zawawi’s trajectory exemplifies the profound dedication characteristic of ulama who shaped Indonesia’s religious and educational landscape, laying foundations for future generations through their tireless efforts in propagating Islamic knowledge and fostering community well-being. His contributions resonate even today, underscoring the vital role of traditional Islamic institutions in national development and spiritual guidance.

Early Life and Formative Years in Central Java

KH. Jauhari Zawawi was born in 1911, on Friday Wage according to the Javanese calendar, in Waru, Sidorejo Village, Sedan District, Central Java, Indonesia. His birth into a family deeply embedded in religious and historical traditions provided a fertile ground for his spiritual and intellectual development. The early 20th century in rural Java was a period marked by significant socio-political changes under Dutch colonial rule, yet traditional Islamic education, primarily through pesantren, remained a steadfast beacon of cultural and religious identity. Children like Jauhari Zawawi were often introduced to basic Qur’anic recitation, Arabic alphabet, and fundamental Islamic tenets from a very young age within their family circles or local surau (small prayer houses). His family’s religious lineage likely meant that he was exposed to Islamic texts and scholarly discussions from childhood, instilling in him a profound respect for knowledge and piety.

The Sedan District, situated in Central Java, historically served as a nexus for Islamic learning, influenced by nearby coastal towns that had long been centers of trade and religious dissemination. This geographical context meant that access to scholarly figures and rudimentary religious education was more prevalent than in some other remote areas. Young Jauhari’s initial studies would have typically involved learning basic fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), tauhid (theology), and akhlaq (ethics) from local kyai (religious teachers). This foundational education, though perhaps informal by modern standards, was rigorous in its emphasis on memorization, understanding, and the practical application of Islamic principles in daily life. It prepared him for the more intensive pursuit of knowledge that would define his adolescence and early adulthood. The spiritual environment of his birthplace, coupled with his family’s commitment to religious values, undoubtedly shaped his character, fostering the unwavering sincerity and dedication that would become hallmarks of his illustrious career.

The Quest for Knowledge: Traversing the Archipelago’s Pesantren

Following his initial education in his hometown, KH. Jauhari Zawawi embarked on a journey common to aspiring ulama of his era: traveling from one pesantren to another across the Indonesian archipelago. This traditional method of learning, known as nyantri or rihlah ilmiyah (journey for knowledge), was a cornerstone of Islamic scholarship in Indonesia. Each pesantren specialized in different branches of Islamic sciences or was renowned for a particular kyai’s expertise. Through this itinerant learning, students gained a comprehensive understanding of various disciplines and encountered diverse pedagogical approaches.

While specific names of the pesantren he attended are not detailed, it can be inferred that his studies would have encompassed a wide range of classical Islamic subjects. These typically included:

  • Nahwu and Shorof (Arabic Grammar and Morphology): Essential for understanding classical Arabic texts, especially the Qur’an and Hadith.
  • Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence): Detailed study of the rulings and principles of Islamic law, often focusing on the Syafi’i school, dominant in Indonesia.
  • Usul Fiqh (Principles of Jurisprudence): The methodology used to derive Islamic legal rulings.
  • Tafsir (Qur’anic Exegesis): Interpretation and understanding of the Holy Qur’an.
  • Hadith (Prophetic Traditions): Study of the sayings and actions of Prophet Muhammad, including their chains of narration (sanad) and authenticity (matan).
  • Tauhid (Theology): The study of God’s oneness and attributes.
  • Tasawwuf (Sufism/Mysticism): The spiritual dimension of Islam, focusing on inner purification and closeness to God.
  • Mantiq (Logic): Used as a tool for critical thinking and understanding complex theological and jurisprudential arguments.

The rigorous daily routine in a pesantren involved communal living, early morning prayers, intense study sessions often extending late into the night, and direct mentorship from the resident kyai. This environment fostered not only intellectual growth but also spiritual discipline, humility, and a strong sense of community. The kyai-santri relationship was paramount, built on respect, obedience, and a deep spiritual bond, where knowledge was transmitted not just through books but through the exemplary character and guidance of the teacher. This period of intense learning across multiple institutions would have honed KH. Jauhari Zawawi’s critical thinking, broadened his perspective, and deepened his commitment to serving the Muslim community.

The Zenith of Scholarship: Studying in the Holy City of Makkah

The culmination of KH. Jauhari Zawawi’s intellectual journey was his sojourn to Makkah, the holy city, a revered center of Islamic learning for centuries. Is Sleeping After Fajr Prayer Haram? An Islamic Jurisprudence Perspective

by Lina Irawan
written by Lina Irawan

The question of whether sleeping after the Fajr (dawn) prayer is permissible in Islam frequently arises within Muslim communities, often accompanied by concerns that such a practice might negate blessings or hinder one’s provision. While some popular narratives suggest it is strictly prohibited or inherently detrimental, Islamic jurisprudence, drawing from prophetic traditions and scholarly consensus, offers a more nuanced understanding, classifying it as generally discouraged but not outright forbidden, especially when alternative, more beneficial activities are foregone. This article delves into the various facets of this issue, exploring the spiritual significance of the morning hours, the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the practices of his companions, and the interpretations of classical and contemporary Islamic scholars, alongside relevant contemporary considerations.

The Sacred Dawn: Understanding Fajr and its Profound Significance

The Fajr prayer marks the spiritual commencement of a Muslim’s day, being the first of the five obligatory daily prayers. Its timing, spanning from true dawn until just before sunrise, places it at a unique juncture, coinciding with the world’s reawakening. Spiritually, performing Fajr prayer is considered highly meritorious, promising light on the Day of Judgment and placing the worshipper under Allah’s protection. Beyond the ritual, the time immediately following Fajr holds immense significance in Islamic tradition, imbued with barakah – a divine blessing that enhances quantity, quality, and effectiveness in all aspects of life, be it time, effort, health, or provision. This concept of barakah is central to understanding the Islamic perspective on morning activities. Historically, early Islamic societies structured their daily routines around the dawn, with markets opening, scholars teaching, and various forms of work commencing shortly after Fajr, reflecting a deep-seated cultural and religious appreciation for the morning hours.

Prophetic Guidance on Morning Vigilance and Blessings

The emphasis on utilizing the morning hours productively stems directly from the teachings and practices of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). A cornerstone of this guidance is his famous supplication:

اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لِأُمَّتِي فِي بُكُورِهَا

“O Allah, bless my nation in their early mornings.”

This profound prayer, recorded in several authentic Hadith collections, serves as a fundamental injunction, highlighting the immense spiritual and material benefits bestowed upon those who engage in beneficial activities during this time. The Prophet’s own Sunnah (practice) after Fajr prayer typically involved engaging in dhikr (remembrance of God), tilawah (recitation of the Quran), seeking knowledge, or commencing his daily affairs, rather than returning to sleep. This was a consistent routine, demonstrating the practical application of his prayer for barakah.

A particularly poignant incident illustrating this prophetic guidance involves his daughter, Sayyidah Fatimah (RA). It is narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) once found her sleeping after Fajr prayer. Gently rousing her, he advised:

قُومِي يَا فَاطِمَةُ وَاشْهَدِي رِزْقَ رَبِّكِ

“Arise, O Fatimah, and witness the provision of your Lord.”

This powerful admonition extends beyond merely observing the morning light; it encapsulates the broader concept of actively engaging with the opportunities and blessings that unfold at dawn. The "provision" mentioned here is not solely material wealth but encompasses all forms of sustenance and well-being, including spiritual tranquility, physical health, and intellectual growth. By waking and being active, one positions oneself to receive and appreciate these multifaceted blessings. This particular Hadith, though sometimes questioned regarding its exact chain of narration, is widely accepted by scholars for its moral and ethical implications, reflecting the spirit of the Prophet’s teachings.

The Companions’ Practices and Early Islamic Admonitions

The ethos of early rising and productivity after Fajr was deeply ingrained in the lives of the Prophet’s companions (Sahaba). They understood and emulated the Prophet’s Sunnah, recognizing the wisdom in dedicating the morning to worship, work, and learning. One prominent example is Zubair bin Awwam (RA), a distinguished companion, who was known to explicitly forbid his children from sleeping after Fajr. His directive:

لَا يَنَامُ الزُّبَيْرُ بْنُ الْعَوَّامِ بَعْدَ الصُّبْحِ

Bolehkah Tidur Setelah Shalat Subuh? Ini Penjelasan Ulama

“Zubair bin Awwam would not sleep in the morning (i.e., after Fajr).”

This was not a personal preference but a pedagogical approach aimed at instilling discipline, diligence, and a connection to divine blessings in the younger generation. The Sahaba generally perceived morning sleep as a habit that could lead to lethargy, missed opportunities for worship, and a diminished capacity for productive work. Their collective practice and advice underscore a communal understanding that the early hours were sacred and should be utilized for pursuits that bring benefit in this life and the hereafter. This cultural norm of commencing the day early became a hallmark of righteous conduct in early Islamic societies.

Scholarly Interpretations: From Classical Jurisprudence to Contemporary Fatwas

The question of sleeping after Fajr has been a subject of discussion among Islamic scholars across various epochs. While the prophetic traditions clearly indicate a preference for wakefulness, the legal classification of sleeping during this time has been meticulously examined.

Imam Malik’s Stance: Not Haram, but Undesirable
One of the earliest and most authoritative responses comes from Imam Malik ibn Anas, the founder of the Maliki school of jurisprudence. When asked about the permissibility of sleeping after Fajr prayer, he famously replied:

سُئِلَ مَالِكٌ عَنِ النَّوْمِ بَعْدَ صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ فَقَالَ: مَا أَعْلَمُ ذَلِكَ حَرَامًا

"Imam Malik was asked about sleeping after Fajr prayer. He replied: ‘I do not know that it is something forbidden (haram).’"

This statement is crucial. It firmly establishes that sleeping after Fajr is not considered haram (forbidden) in Islam. The absence of an explicit, unequivocal prohibition in the Quran or authentic Sunnah means it cannot be categorized as such. However, Imam Malik’s response does not imply endorsement; rather, it highlights the distinction between what is explicitly forbidden and what is merely discouraged or less preferred.

The Concept of Makruh (Discouraged)
Building on this, many scholars classify sleeping after Fajr as makruh tanzih, meaning it is disliked or discouraged, but not sinful. The dislike stems from the opportunity cost – the missed chance to engage in more meritorious activities and to partake in the unique barakah of the morning. Scholars like Syekh Abdul Ra’uf al-Munawi, in his renowned commentary Faidhul Qadir, elaborates on this, emphasizing that the Prophet’s consistent practice of dhikr and istighfar (seeking forgiveness) until sunrise, followed by engaging in daily activities, signifies the preferred conduct. He links this to the Hadith about Sayyidah Fatimah, explaining that the Prophet’s encouragement was for her to actively pursue blessings rather than passively sleep through them.

Habib Zain bin Smith: Loss of Barakah
Habib Zain bin Smith, a contemporary Yemeni scholar, echoes this sentiment in his work Fawaid al-Mukhtarah:

النَّوْمُ بَعْدَ الصُّبْحِ يُذْهِبُ بَرَكَةَ الرِّزْقِ وَالْعُمْرِ، لِأَنَّ بَرَكَةَ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ فِي الْبُكُورِ وَهُوَ بَعْدَ صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ إِلَى طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ

"Sleeping after Fajr diminishes the blessing in one’s provision and lifespan, because the blessing of this Ummah (nation) is in the early morning, which is after Fajr prayer until sunrise."

This statement clarifies that the "loss of blessing" is not a direct punishment, but rather a consequence of neglecting a divinely favored time. It implies missing out on the potential for increased good in one’s livelihood, health, and overall life quality, which could have been attained by utilizing those hours for worship, work, or learning.

Imam Ibnul Qayyim al-Jawziyyah: Physical and Spiritual Detriments
Imam Ibnul Qayyim al-Jawziyyah, a prominent Hanbali scholar, provided a more comprehensive analysis of the effects of morning sleep in his book Zadul Ma’ad. He highlighted both the spiritual and physical detriments, stating that sleeping after Fajr can lead to lethargy, dullness, and a decrease in energy and enthusiasm for the day’s activities. He noted that such sleep can disrupt one’s spiritual state, making it harder to remember Allah and engage in worship, and can also contribute to physical ailments by disrupting natural body rhythms. While not declaring it haram, he strongly advised against it, emphasizing its negative impact on overall well-being and productivity.

Modern Perspectives and Practical Considerations

In contemporary society, where work schedules often extend late into the night and lifestyles are vastly different from historical norms, the application of these traditional Islamic guidelines requires a balanced approach. Islamic jurisprudence, by its nature, is flexible and considers individual circumstances.

The "Necessity" Clause and Individual Circumstances
Scholars recognize that there are valid reasons why an individual might need to sleep after Fajr. This includes:

  • Night Shift Workers: Those whose livelihoods depend on working through the night (e.g., healthcare professionals, security personnel, factory workers) are often genuinely exhausted by dawn and require sleep for their health and safety. In such cases, sleeping after Fajr is not only permissible but often necessary for their well-being and ability to perform their duties safely.
  • Health Conditions: Individuals suffering from illnesses, chronic fatigue, or other medical conditions that necessitate extended rest may also find it difficult to remain awake after Fajr. Islam prioritizes health and ease, and such individuals are not expected to exert themselves to their detriment.
  • Exceptional Circumstances: Instances of intense travel, childcare demands, or other extraordinary situations where sleep deprivation is severe would also fall under the umbrella of necessity.

In these scenarios, the general discouragement of morning sleep is lifted, as the overarching principle in Islam is to avoid hardship where possible. As the Quran states, "Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship" (Quran 2:185).

Connecting to Modern Science: Circadian Rhythms and Sleep Hygiene
While Islamic rulings are divinely ordained and not contingent on scientific validation, it is noteworthy that modern scientific understanding of sleep patterns and human physiology often aligns with the wisdom embedded in Islamic practices. Research into circadian rhythms underscores the importance of consistent sleep-wake cycles. Exposing oneself to morning light soon after waking helps regulate the body’s internal clock, promoting alertness during the day and better sleep at night. Conversely, returning to sleep after Fajr can sometimes disrupt this natural rhythm, potentially leading to sleep inertia, grogginess, and reduced cognitive function later in the day, mirroring the "lethargy" and "dullness" described by Imam Ibnul Qayyim.

However, it’s also crucial to distinguish between a short nap for genuine rest and prolonged, habitual sleep. A brief power nap, if needed, might not have the same negative implications as extended sleep that stretches for several hours, completely missing the morning’s productive potential. The key is balance and moderation, prioritizing one’s well-being while striving to uphold the spirit of the Sunnah.

Broader Implications: Spiritual, Social, and Economic

The Islamic emphasis on utilizing the morning hours extends far beyond individual spiritual discipline; it has profound implications for a Muslim’s overall life quality and contribution to society.

Spiritual Enrichment: Remaining awake after Fajr allows for deeper engagement in dhikr, Quranic reflection, and supplication during a time of heightened spiritual receptivity. This practice can significantly enhance one’s connection with Allah, fostering inner peace and spiritual growth that sets a positive tone for the entire day.

Enhanced Productivity and Mental Clarity: Historically and presently, many successful individuals across various fields advocate for early rising. The quietude of the morning, free from distractions, offers an ideal environment for focused work, study, and planning. For Muslims, this aligns with the concept of barakah in effort and intellect. Starting the day with purposeful activity, whether it’s work, learning, or community service, can lead to greater accomplishments and a sense of fulfillment.

Economic Prosperity and Provision: The Hadith urging Fatimah to "witness her provision" directly links morning vigilance to economic well-being. This is not a superstitious belief that sleep directly causes poverty, but rather a recognition that diligence, early effort, and seeking lawful provision (rizq halal) are avenues through which divine blessings manifest. Those who rise early are often more productive, seize opportunities, and contribute more effectively to their livelihoods and economies.

Physical and Mental Well-being: While the need for adequate sleep is undeniable, avoiding excessive or ill-timed sleep after Fajr can contribute to better sleep hygiene overall. A disciplined morning routine, even if it initially requires effort, can lead to a more energetic and focused day, reducing stress and improving mood, aligning with the holistic well-being promoted by Islam.

Conclusion

In summary, the consensus among Islamic scholars is that sleeping after Fajr prayer is not haram (forbidden). However, it is generally considered makruh (discouraged) when there is no genuine need, due to the immense spiritual, physical, and material blessings associated with the early morning hours. The Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) prayer for barakah in his nation’s mornings, his own consistent practice of remaining awake, and the admonitions of his companions and subsequent scholars all point towards the wisdom of utilizing this precious time for worship, remembrance, seeking knowledge, and productive work.

For individuals with legitimate reasons such as night shifts, health conditions, or other pressing needs for rest, sleeping after Fajr is permissible, reflecting Islam’s emphasis on ease and practicality. However, for those without such necessities, the guidance remains clear: to embrace the dawn with wakefulness and purpose. The timeless message conveyed by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to Sayyidah Fatimah (RA) – "Arise and seek your provision" – serves as a powerful reminder that true prosperity, in its broadest sense, often accompanies diligence, discipline, and a conscious effort to harness the blessings of Allah’s creation, particularly during the sacred hours of the morning.

Dengue Vaccination Projections in Indonesia: A Strategic Path to Reducing Disease Burden and Mortality

by Lina Irawan
written by Lina Irawan

The implementation of a comprehensive dengue vaccination program in Indonesia holds the potential to significantly alleviate the national health burden by drastically reducing symptomatic cases, hospital admissions, and mortality rates. Recent modeling studies conducted by researchers at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) underscore the transformative impact that immunization could have on the country’s long-standing battle against Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF). As Indonesia continues to grapple with high infection rates and a position as one of the most affected nations globally, these findings provide a data-driven roadmap for public health officials and medical practitioners to enhance existing prevention strategies.

The findings were detailed by Professor Dr. Jarir At Thobari, D.Pharm., Ph.D., a prominent figure from the Department of Pharmacology and Therapy at the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FK-KMK) at UGM. Speaking at the Jakarta Dengue Forum—an initiative organized by PT Takeda Innovative Medicines in collaboration with the Jakarta Chapter of the Indonesian Pediatric Society (IDAI)—Professor Jarir highlighted that vaccination is no longer just a secondary option but a critical pillar in the multi-pronged approach to dengue control. The forum served as a platform to bridge the gap between academic research and clinical application, emphasizing that the integration of modern medical technology is essential to meet the government’s ambitious target of "Zero Dengue Deaths by 2030."

The UGM Modeling Study: A 20-Year Projection

The core of the discussion centered on health economic modeling scenarios presented at the 9th Asia Dengue Summit 2026 in Singapore. This study utilized sophisticated mathematical models to project the long-term impact of introducing dengue vaccines into the Indonesian population. According to the data, a sustained vaccination program over a 20-year period is projected to yield a substantial decrease in the clinical manifestations of the disease. Specifically, the modeling suggests that widespread vaccine adoption could prevent millions of symptomatic cases that would otherwise strain the national healthcare infrastructure.

Beyond the raw number of cases, the study focused on a crucial metric in public health: Disability-Adjusted Life Years (DALY). The DALY is a measure of overall disease burden, expressed as the number of years lost due to ill-health, disability, or early death. Professor Jarir’s research indicates that vaccination could reduce Indonesia’s dengue-related burden by approximately 1.1 to 1.3 million DALYs. This figure represents not just a statistical improvement but a profound recovery of human potential and economic productivity, as fewer citizens would be sidelined by the debilitating effects of the virus or the tragedy of premature death.

Indonesia’s Position in the Global Dengue Crisis

The urgency of these findings is underscored by Indonesia’s current epidemiological status. Data from various international health monitoring bodies, as well as the Indonesian Ministry of Health, consistently place the archipelago among the top nations for dengue prevalence. Alarmingly, Indonesia has been ranked as having the second-highest number of dengue-related deaths in the world. This high mortality rate is attributed to several factors, including the hyper-endemic nature of the four dengue virus serotypes (DENV-1, -2, -3, and -4) circulating in the country, high population density in urban centers, and the pervasive presence of the Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes.

The seasonal nature of dengue, which typically peaks during the transition between the dry and rainy seasons, creates annual crises for Indonesian hospitals. During these periods, pediatric wards and intensive care units often reach full capacity, leading to a "double burden" on the healthcare system which must simultaneously manage chronic diseases and acute infectious outbreaks. The UGM study suggests that by lowering the baseline of symptomatic cases through vaccination, the healthcare system would be better equipped to handle these seasonal surges without compromising the quality of care.

Shifting Paradigms: From Home-Based to Workplace Awareness

While traditional public health campaigns in Indonesia have focused heavily on the domestic environment—encouraging families to clear standing water in their homes—the Jakarta Dengue Forum highlighted a shifting landscape of risk. Experts warned that the risk of dengue transmission is not confined to residential areas. The Aedes aegypti mosquito is primarily a daytime feeder, meaning that individuals are equally, if not more, at risk while at their places of employment, in schools, or in public spaces.

This realization necessitates a broader approach to prevention. The "3M Plus" strategy (Menguras/draining water containers, Menutup/covering water storage, and Mendaur ulang/recycling waste, plus avoiding mosquito bites) remains the foundation of community-based prevention. However, experts at the forum argued that environmental management alone is insufficient in highly urbanized environments where mosquito breeding sites are often inaccessible or overlooked. In this context, vaccination provides a layer of biological protection that travels with the individual, regardless of whether they are at home, in the office, or commuting.

The Economic Impact of Dengue in Indonesia

The economic ramifications of dengue fever in Indonesia are vast, affecting both the macro-economy and individual household stability. At the national level, the cost of treating hundreds of thousands of hospitalized patients annually runs into trillions of Rupiah. This includes direct medical costs such as bed occupancy, laboratory tests, and medications, as well as indirect costs like the loss of labor productivity from both the patients and their caregivers.

Studi UGM: Vaksin DBD Berpotensi Turunkan Kasus Rawat Inap dan Kematian

For the average Indonesian family, a single case of severe dengue can be financially devastating. Out-of-pocket expenses for specialized care, combined with the loss of income during the recovery period, often push vulnerable families toward the poverty line. By reducing the incidence of hospitalization through vaccination, the UGM study implies a significant "economic vaccine" effect, where the upfront cost of immunization is far outweighed by the long-term savings in healthcare expenditures and the preservation of household income.

Clinical Perspectives and Vaccine Safety

The involvement of the Indonesian Pediatric Society (IDAI) in the forum highlights the clinical community’s support for expanded immunization. Pediatricians are often on the front lines of the dengue battle, as children are particularly susceptible to severe complications such as Dengue Shock Syndrome (DSS). The IDAI has been proactive in updating its immunization schedules to include the latest dengue vaccines, which have undergone rigorous clinical trials to ensure safety and efficacy across various age groups.

Current vaccine technology, such as the tetravalent dengue vaccine developed by Takeda (Qdenga), has shown high efficacy in preventing hospitalizations and severe disease across all four virus serotypes. Crucially, newer generations of the vaccine do not require pre-vaccination blood testing for prior exposure, making them more accessible for mass rollout compared to earlier iterations. This ease of administration is a key factor in the UGM modeling, as it allows for higher coverage rates within the population.

Challenges to Implementation

Despite the promising data, the path to universal dengue vaccination in Indonesia faces several hurdles. The primary challenge is the integration of the vaccine into the National Immunization Program (BIAN/BIAS). Currently, the dengue vaccine is largely available through the private sector, meaning it is most accessible to middle- and upper-income families. To achieve the 1.1 to 1.3 million DALY reduction projected by UGM, the vaccine must reach the broader population, particularly those in high-risk, low-income areas.

Logistical challenges also persist, including the maintenance of a cold-chain supply system across Indonesia’s vast and fragmented geography. Furthermore, public perception and vaccine hesitancy remain factors that health authorities must address through transparent communication and education campaigns. The Jakarta Dengue Forum emphasized that the success of a vaccination program depends not only on the availability of the medicine but on the public’s trust in its safety and necessity.

Studi UGM: Vaksin DBD Berpotensi Turunkan Kasus Rawat Inap dan Kematian

A Multi-Sectoral Strategy for the Future

The consensus from the Jakarta Dengue Forum is that vaccination should be viewed as a complementary tool rather than a replacement for existing mosquito control measures. The "Integrated Mosquito Management" approach combines environmental sanitation, public education, the use of technology (such as Wolbachia-infected mosquitoes), and immunization.

The UGM study acts as a call to action for the government to accelerate the evaluation of the dengue vaccine for public programs. As Indonesia aims for its "Golden Indonesia 2045" vision, the health of its human capital is paramount. Reducing the shadow of dengue through a robust, science-backed vaccination strategy would represent a major milestone in the nation’s public health history.

In conclusion, the data presented by Professor Jarir At Thobari and the UGM research team provides a compelling argument for the immediate prioritization of dengue vaccination. With the potential to save thousands of lives and prevent millions of cases over the next two decades, the implementation of such a program is a vital investment in the nation’s future. As the Jakarta Dengue Forum concluded, the fight against dengue is a collective responsibility, requiring the synergy of government policy, corporate innovation, and community participation to finally turn the tide against this perennial threat.

UI GreenMetric Launches Sustainable Corporate Rankings to Catalyze ESG Integration and Drive National Competitiveness

by Lina Irawan
written by Lina Irawan

Depok, Indonesia – In a significant expansion of its global sustainability efforts, UI GreenMetric has officially introduced the UI GreenMetric Sustainable Corporate Rankings. The initiative, unveiled through an online soft launch and socialization event, marks a pivotal step in extending UI GreenMetric’s established influence beyond academic institutions into the corporate sector, aiming to foster greater contribution to sustainable development worldwide. This move underscores a growing global consensus on the imperative for cross-sector collaboration to address pressing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) challenges, positioning corporations as critical agents of change.

The Genesis of an Expansion: From Academia to Industry

UI GreenMetric, globally renowned for its comprehensive ranking of universities based on their sustainability performance, has been a trailblazer in promoting green practices within higher education since its inception in 2010. Its annual World University Rankings have served as a crucial benchmark, inspiring universities across continents to adopt more sustainable policies and infrastructure. However, the escalating complexity and urgency of global sustainability issues, from climate change to social equity, have increasingly highlighted the indispensable role of the private sector. Corporations, with their vast resources, innovative capacity, and extensive supply chains, possess unparalleled potential to drive meaningful change.

The decision to broaden its scope to corporate entities reflects a strategic recognition that achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030 requires a concerted effort from all societal pillars. Dr. Vishnu Juwono, Chairman of UI GreenMetric, articulated this vision from the University of Indonesia (UI) campus in Depok, emphasizing that contemporary sustainability challenges necessitate robust collaboration across diverse sectors. "The private sector holds a vital role in supporting sustainable development through sound governance, responsible environmental management, and the creation of positive social impact," Dr. Juwono stated, underscoring the shift from mere compliance to proactive sustainability leadership. This expansion is not just about ranking; it is about providing a structured framework for companies to assess, improve, and publicly demonstrate their commitment to sustainability.

Key Drivers and Stakeholder Perspectives

The launch event brought together leading voices who provided critical insights into the strategic importance of this new ranking system. Their statements collectively painted a picture of a dynamic landscape where ESG principles are rapidly becoming non-negotiable for long-term business viability and societal well-being.

Dr. Vishnu Juwono’s Vision: The Private Sector as a Sustainability Catalyst

Dr. Juwono elaborated on the multifaceted role of corporations in the sustainability agenda. He highlighted that good governance within companies is the bedrock upon which effective environmental and social strategies are built. This includes transparent decision-making, ethical leadership, and robust accountability mechanisms that ensure sustainability is embedded at every level of operations. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of responsible environmental management, encompassing everything from resource efficiency and waste reduction to emissions control and biodiversity conservation. Finally, the creation of positive social impact – through fair labor practices, community engagement, and contributions to social development – completes the holistic approach to corporate sustainability. The UI GreenMetric Sustainable Corporate Rankings are designed to be an instrument that encourages companies to systematically measure, evaluate, and elevate their ESG performance across these critical dimensions.

Prof. Dr. Sylvia Veronica Nalurita Purnama Siregar on ESG Governance and Transparency

Adding a crucial academic perspective, Prof. Dr. Sylvia Veronica Nalurita Purnama Siregar, Secretary of the Board of Professors at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia (FEB UI), delved into the profound impact of ESG governance. She explained how robust ESG frameworks significantly strengthen corporate accountability, leading to more informed and ethical decision-making. In an era where public scrutiny of business practices is at an all-time high, transparency is paramount. ESG governance provides a structured approach for companies to address escalating public expectations regarding ethical conduct, environmental stewardship, and social responsibility. This not only mitigates risks associated with poor governance but also enhances corporate reputation, fostering trust among stakeholders, including investors, customers, and employees. The integration of ESG principles into core business strategy moves beyond mere compliance, evolving into a strategic advantage that drives long-term value creation.

OJK’s Endorsement: Strengthening Indonesia’s Sustainable Finance Ecosystem

The financial sector’s role in driving corporate sustainability was a central theme, addressed by R. Joko Siswanto, Director of Sustainable Finance at the Directorate of Sustainable Finance Development and Governance (DUKB-DSKT) of the Financial Services Authority (OJK). His remarks underscored the critical importance of strengthening Indonesia’s sustainable finance ecosystem. OJK, as the primary financial regulator, has been actively promoting sustainable finance initiatives, recognizing that capital allocation plays a crucial role in transitioning to a green economy. Mr. Siswanto highlighted ESG as a foundational pillar of corporate governance that is essential for creating long-term value. Investors globally are increasingly integrating ESG factors into their investment decisions, recognizing that companies with strong ESG performance often demonstrate greater resilience, innovation, and profitability. OJK’s support for initiatives like the UI GreenMetric Sustainable Corporate Rankings signals a clear regulatory push for Indonesian companies to embrace sustainability, not just as a moral imperative, but as a financial necessity. This aligns with broader global trends where ESG investing has surged, with global sustainable investment assets exceeding $30 trillion, demonstrating a clear market demand for responsible corporate practices.

Methodology and Implementation: A Framework for Continuous Improvement

At the heart of any credible ranking system lies a robust and transparent methodology. Rahmi, Manager of Operations, Data, and Service Development for UI GreenMetric, provided insights into the meticulous design of the corporate ranking framework. She explained that the methodology is conceived as a comprehensive benchmark, based on measurable indicators, specifically tailored to assist companies in several key areas. This includes identifying opportunities for improvement across their operations, strengthening transparency in their reporting, and fostering an organizational culture committed to continuous improvement.

While specific categories of indicators were not detailed in the initial announcement, drawing from UI GreenMetric’s university ranking expertise, it can be inferred that the corporate framework would likely encompass domains such as:

  • Environmental Performance: Energy efficiency and renewable energy adoption, water management, waste management and recycling, greenhouse gas emissions, biodiversity protection, and sustainable sourcing.
  • Social Impact: Labor practices, human rights, community engagement, diversity and inclusion, employee health and safety, and supply chain responsibility.
  • Governance: Board structure and independence, executive compensation, business ethics, anti-corruption policies, data privacy, and shareholder rights.

The emphasis on "measurable indicators" ensures that the ranking is objective and data-driven, allowing companies to track their progress over time and benchmark themselves against peers. This approach moves beyond qualitative assessments, providing tangible metrics for performance evaluation and targeted improvements, thereby facilitating a culture where sustainability is not just an add-on but an integral part of business strategy.

The Imperative for Corporate Sustainability in Indonesia

Indonesia, as a G20 economy and a nation rich in biodiversity, faces significant environmental and social challenges while simultaneously possessing immense potential for sustainable growth. The launch of the UI GreenMetric Sustainable Corporate Rankings comes at a critical juncture for the country. Indonesia has committed to ambitious climate targets under the Paris Agreement, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 31.89% independently and 43.2% with international support by 2030 (as per its updated Nationally Determined Contribution, NDC). Achieving these targets will require substantial contributions from the corporate sector.

Economically, embracing ESG principles can significantly boost the global competitiveness of Indonesian industries. International investors, supply chain partners, and consumers are increasingly prioritizing sustainability. Companies with strong ESG credentials are more likely to attract foreign direct investment (FDI), secure favorable financing terms, and access new markets that demand ethical and environmentally responsible products and services. For instance, the European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and similar regulatory initiatives globally highlight the growing need for companies to demonstrate their carbon footprint and broader sustainability efforts to remain competitive in international trade.

Beyond economic benefits, the positive social and environmental impacts are profound. Responsible corporate practices can lead to cleaner air and water, healthier ecosystems, improved working conditions, and stronger community development. By fostering a culture of sustainability within its corporate sector, Indonesia can accelerate its progress towards the SDGs, improve public health, and enhance the overall quality of life for its citizens. This also aligns with the broader national agenda of fostering a green economy and building resilience against climate change impacts.

Broader Implications and Future Outlook

The UI GreenMetric Sustainable Corporate Rankings represent more than just a new evaluation tool; they signify a strategic shift in how sustainability is perceived and pursued within the Indonesian business landscape and potentially beyond.

Impact on Corporate Behavior: The existence of a public ranking system can act as a powerful incentive for companies. It encourages them to move beyond minimal compliance with regulations to proactive leadership in sustainability. Companies will likely invest more in green technologies, sustainable supply chains, and social programs to improve their standing in the rankings, thereby enhancing their brand reputation and attracting talent and investment. This competitive dynamic can foster a race to the top, driving continuous innovation in sustainable business practices.

Role in Policy-Making: The data generated by these rankings can provide invaluable insights for policymakers. It can highlight sectors that are lagging in sustainability performance, identify best practices, and inform the development of more effective government policies and regulatory frameworks to support a green transition. For instance, if certain industries consistently rank low in water management, it might signal a need for targeted incentives or regulations in that area.

Global Benchmarking and Influence: By providing a credible and transparent ranking system, UI GreenMetric can help position Indonesian companies on the global sustainability stage. It offers a framework for international comparison, allowing Indonesian businesses to benchmark their performance against global leaders and demonstrate their commitment to international sustainability standards. This initiative also reinforces UI GreenMetric’s own commitment to innovating and leading the global sustainability agenda, building on its decade-plus experience in university rankings.

Challenges and Opportunities: While the potential benefits are immense, the implementation of such a ranking system will not be without its challenges. These include ensuring accurate and verifiable data submission from companies, managing the diversity of industries and their unique sustainability footprints, and securing widespread corporate buy-in. However, these challenges are outweighed by the significant opportunities for fostering innovation, driving green economic growth, attracting responsible investment, and ultimately contributing to a more sustainable and resilient future for Indonesia and the world. The UI GreenMetric Sustainable Corporate Rankings are poised to become a critical catalyst in this transformative journey, urging corporations to not only measure their financial success but also their lasting impact on the planet and its people.

Sempat Pacaran 5 Tahun, Gonzalo Torres Kirim Sindiran Menohok untuk Kekasih Lamine Yamal

by Lina Irawan
written by Lina Irawan

The personal life of Spanish football sensation Lamine Yamal has become a focal point of international media attention following a series of controversial allegations involving his partner, Inés García Santos. The 21-year-old influencer has found herself at the center of a digital firestorm after rumors surfaced suggesting she ended a five-year relationship to pursue a romantic connection with the 19-year-old Barcelona and Spain forward. The situation escalated significantly in late July 2026, as alleged statements from her former partner, Gonzalo Torres, began circulating on social media, accusing García Santos of being motivated by Yamal’s wealth and professional status rather than genuine affection.

The controversy highlights the intense scrutiny faced by those associated with high-profile athletes in the modern digital age. Lamine Yamal, who rose to global prominence as a prodigy in the Spanish national team and FC Barcelona, has seen his personal brand and private life subjected to unprecedented levels of public curiosity. As his relationship with García Santos became public, the narrative quickly shifted from a celebratory romantic reveal to a complex drama involving claims of infidelity, social climbing, and the psychological toll of viral harassment.

The Genesis of the Controversy

The rumors began to gain traction in mid-July 2026, shortly after Lamine Yamal and Inés García Santos were seen together following a period of intense professional success for the young footballer. According to various social media reports and speculative threads on platforms such as X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok, García Santos had been in a stable, long-term relationship with Gonzalo Torres for approximately five years. The narrative suggests that this relationship was abruptly terminated after García Santos received a direct message (DM) from Yamal.

The speed with which the transition occurred led to accusations of opportunism. Critics and fans of the footballer began to dissect the timeline of García Santos’s social media activity, attempting to pinpoint the exact moment her previous relationship ended and her involvement with Yamal began. This digital forensic approach by the public is a common phenomenon in "WAG" (Wives and Girlfriends) culture, where the partners of famous athletes are often viewed with skepticism regarding their motives.

Inés García Santos Responds to the Allegations

On Wednesday, July 22, 2026, Inés García Santos took to her official X account to address the mounting criticism. In a lengthy and emotionally charged statement, she expressed her distress over the vitriol directed toward her. She emphasized her humanity, reminding the public that behind the influencer persona is a person with feelings who is susceptible to the pain caused by mass online harassment.

"I never imagined that sharing something so simple would turn into this," García Santos wrote, referring to the public nature of her relationship. "I spend hours reading these comments and, although I try to stay strong, I am also human. Behind this account is someone who has feelings, who can cry, who can make mistakes, and who remains human even while in a relationship."

She further addressed the nature of public discourse, making a clear distinction between constructive criticism and targeted abuse. While acknowledging that as a public figure, she cannot expect universal approval, she urged her followers and the wider public to refrain from dehumanizing her. "I understand that not everyone has to like everyone else. I accept criticism as long as it is delivered with respect. However, there is a big difference between having an opinion and taking the time to humiliate, insult, or wish bad things upon someone you don’t even know," she added.

The Emergence of Gonzalo Torres

The situation took a more volatile turn when a man identified as Gonzalo Torres, allegedly the ex-boyfriend of García Santos, reportedly posted a series of "menacing" and accusatory messages on his Instagram stories. These posts were quickly screenshotted and disseminated across X by users such as @freakin_snow, causing them to go viral within hours.

In these alleged posts, Torres claimed that García Santos’s feelings for Lamine Yamal were not rooted in love but were instead driven by a desire for the financial security and lifestyle associated with a top-tier professional footballer. He suggested that the five-year history they shared was discarded the moment a more "lucrative" opportunity presented itself. While the authenticity of these posts and the exact nature of the previous relationship have not been independently verified by legal representatives, the impact on public opinion was immediate and polarizing.

Contextualizing Lamine Yamal’s Meteoric Rise

To understand the scale of this controversy, one must consider the professional context of Lamine Yamal. By July 2026, Yamal had solidified his position as one of the most valuable players in world football. Having broken numerous records during Euro 2024—including becoming the youngest player to ever score in the tournament—his market value soared to over €150 million.

As a cornerstone of both the Spanish national team and FC Barcelona, Yamal is not just a footballer; he is a massive commercial asset. His life is managed by a team of professionals who oversee his public image, endorsements, and security. Any controversy involving his inner circle, including his romantic partners, is viewed as a potential risk to his brand. The allegations against García Santos, therefore, are seen by some analysts as more than just "celebrity gossip"; they represent a challenge to the carefully curated image of a young role model.

Timeline of Events

  • 2021–2026: Inés García Santos is reportedly in a long-term relationship with Gonzalo Torres.
  • Early July 2026: Rumors of a connection between Lamine Yamal and García Santos begin to circulate following the conclusion of major footballing fixtures.
  • July 15–20, 2026: The relationship becomes "social media official," leading to a surge in García Santos’s follower count and public profile.
  • July 21, 2026: Allegations surface on X regarding the "DM" from Yamal and the sudden breakup with Torres.
  • July 22, 2026: Inés García Santos issues a public statement on X defending her character and pleading for an end to the harassment.
  • July 23, 2026: Alleged Instagram stories from Gonzalo Torres go viral, accusing García Santos of financial opportunism.
  • July 24, 2026: International news outlets begin reporting on the internal rift, and the story becomes a trending topic globally.

Analysis of Social Media Dynamics and Harassment

The backlash against Inés García Santos is a textbook example of "misogynistic trolling" often directed at the partners of successful men. Sociological analysts point out that when a woman enters a relationship with a high-net-worth individual, the public often defaults to the "gold digger" trope. This narrative serves to strip the woman of her agency and reduces her emotional life to a series of strategic financial moves.

Furthermore, the role of the "ex-boyfriend" in these scenarios often acts as a catalyst for increased vitriol. By providing a "victim" narrative, the public feels justified in their attacks, believing they are defending a wronged party. In the case of Gonzalo Torres, whether his claims are true or born out of post-breakup resentment, they provided the necessary "evidence" for online trolls to intensify their campaign against García Santos.

The psychological impact of this type of mass scrutiny cannot be understated. As García Santos noted in her statement, the transition from a private citizen to a global target of derision happens with terrifying speed. For a 21-year-old, the weight of millions of negative opinions can lead to significant mental health challenges, a factor that is often ignored by those participating in the commentary.

Implications for Lamine Yamal’s Career and Brand

For Lamine Yamal, this controversy serves as a "coming of age" moment in the world of celebrity. While his talent on the pitch is undisputed, the management of his personal life will now require the same level of precision as his ball control. Elite athletes are increasingly expected to maintain a "clean" personal life to maximize endorsement deals with global brands that favor stability and family-friendly values.

If the controversy persists, it may lead to a strategic distancing or a more robust public relations campaign to rehabilitate García Santos’s image. Conversely, it highlights the predatory nature of the paparazzi and the invasive culture of social media "sleuths" who feel entitled to every detail of an athlete’s private affairs.

Broader Impact on Football Culture

This incident reflects a broader trend in European football where the "WAG" phenomenon has evolved into a high-stakes influencer industry. Partners of footballers are no longer just supporters in the stands; they are entrepreneurs and media personalities in their own right. However, this increased visibility comes with a double-edged sword: while it offers fame and financial opportunity, it also exposes individuals to a level of public judgment that was previously reserved for the players themselves.

As the story continues to develop, the focus remains on how the young couple will navigate the pressures of fame. For now, Inés García Santos remains at the center of a debate regarding loyalty, fame, and the boundaries of public scrutiny, while Lamine Yamal continues to be the face of a new generation of Spanish football excellence, albeit one that must now learn to play through the noise of the digital arena.
