Legal Battle Escalates Between Selebgram Lisa Mariana and Model Dewi Wulan Sari Following Online Pajama Transaction Dispute

by Evan Lee Salim
written by Evan Lee Salim

The legal dispute between prominent Indonesian selebgram Lisa Mariana and fashion model Dewi Wulan Sari has intensified significantly, capturing widespread public and media attention. What began as a routine e-commerce transaction involving the online purchase of sleepwear has cascaded into a complex criminal investigation, reciprocal accusations, and volatile public exchanges across social media platforms. The unfolding controversy highlights the regulatory challenges and social repercussions inherent in modern digital commerce, influencer culture, and online dispute resolution in Indonesia.

Chronology of Events: From E-Commerce Dispute to Criminal Investigation

The friction between Lisa Mariana and Dewi Wulan Sari originated from an online retail transaction concerning the sale and purchase of pajamas. While initial interactions appeared to follow standard digital commercial practices, underlying disagreements regarding fulfillment, product delivery, or financial settlement rapidly deteriorated. According to legal filings, Dewi Wulan Sari alleged that she suffered tangible financial losses resulting from her business dealings with the selebgram.

Unable to reach an amicable resolution through private dialogue, Dewi escalated the matter to formal legal authorities. She officially filed a police report against Lisa Mariana at the East Jakarta Metropolitan Police Station (Polres Metro Jakarta Timur), accusing her of fraud and deceptive business practices under the relevant provisions of the Indonesian Criminal Code and electronic transaction laws.

Following a series of investigative steps, evidence collection, and preliminary examinations, law enforcement authorities advanced the case. Reports indicate that Lisa Mariana was officially designated as a suspect (tersangka) in connection with the alleged fraud investigation as of August 20, 2026. This legal milestone marked a critical turning point, transforming a private civil grievance into a formal criminal proceeding with potential custodial consequences.

Public Outbursts and Social Media Escalation

As the legal timeline progressed toward potential prosecution, tensions spilled over into the public sphere, predominantly driven by digital communication channels. Dewi Wulan Sari, often referred to by her online moniker Dewi Menyala, utilized Instagram Stories to publicly express her frustration, emotional exhaustion, and determination to see the case through to its legal conclusion.

In a series of emotionally charged posts published around Friday, September 25, 2026, Dewi articulated the psychological toll that the protracted conflict had inflicted upon her. Describing her state of mind under the intense pressure of the ordeal, she remarked on the overwhelming emotional burden she had experienced since the dispute began. Despite the psychological strain, Dewi maintained an uncompromising stance regarding accountability, emphasizing her refusal to let the matter drop without formal judicial resolution.

Her statements on social media reflected profound animosity toward the selebgram. Dewi publicly vowed to pursue the case relentlessly until a custodial sentence was handed down, utilizing harsh rhetoric to characterize her ongoing frustration with the defendant. She expressed deep conviction in the judicial process, framing her pursuit of justice as an absolute necessity. The aggressive nature of these online statements underscores how contemporary legal disputes involving public figures are frequently fought simultaneously in courts of law and the court of public opinion.

Lisa Mariana’s Defense: Counter-Allegations of Personal Animosity

In contrast to the narrative presented by Dewi Wulan Sari, Lisa Mariana and her representatives have framed the ongoing conflict through an entirely different lens. The 26-year-old selebgram, addressing the controversy during various public appearances and talk show segments, has maintained that the simple pajama transaction is merely a superficial pretext concealing a deeper, pre-existing personal vendetta.

During a prominent television talk show appearance hosted by well-known media personalities Dewi Perssik and Rian Ibram, the underlying dynamics of the feud were brought under public scrutiny. Fellow guest and celebrity Billy Syahputra directly questioned the panel regarding how a seemingly minor commercial disagreement over sleepwear could escalate into such a prolonged and litigious feud.

Responding to these inquiries, Lisa Mariana asserted that the core issue extends far beyond commerce, explicitly claiming that Dewi Wulan harbors deep-seated personal animosity toward her. According to Lisa’s perspective, the fraud allegations and subsequent police reports are instrumentalisations of a personal grudge rather than legitimate, purely commercial grievances. This defense attempts to reframe the criminal charges as a retaliatory action driven by personal rivalry rather than unlawful intent during the original business transaction.

Broader Industry Implications and the Risks of Digital Commerce

The high-profile conflict between Lisa Mariana and Dewi Wulan Sari serves as a cautionary case study regarding the vulnerabilities embedded within the rapidly expanding creator economy and social commerce sector in Southeast Asia. As influencers and digital personalities increasingly leverage their personal brands to market consumer goods directly to followers, traditional regulatory frameworks often struggle to keep pace.

Transactions conducted via direct messaging, social media marketplaces, and peer-to-peer platforms frequently lack the formal consumer protection mechanisms and institutional guarantees provided by established e-commerce giants. When disputes arise over product quality, delivery failures, or financial refunds, the absence of standardized mediation protocols can quickly cause minor misunderstandings to fester into intractable conflicts.

Furthermore, the involvement of public figures amplifies the stakes. In the digital age, reputational damage caused by prolonged public disputes can severely impact an influencer’s commercial viability, brand partnerships, and career trajectory. Conversely, the public platform allows complainants to exert pressure on institutional systems, potentially accelerating police investigations through heightened media visibility and public scrutiny.

Legal analysts note that while defamation, online harassment, and fraud allegations are increasingly common in disputes involving social media personalities, navigating these cases requires strict adherence to evidentiary standards. The transition of a commercial dispute into a criminal investigation—culminating in suspect status—demonstrates that law enforcement agencies are increasingly willing to scrutinize online business dealings when formal complaints are substantiated by financial records and communication logs.

Outlook and Future Legal Proceedings

As of late September 2026, the case remains under active jurisdiction by the East Jakarta Metropolitan Police. With Lisa Mariana holding official suspect status, the investigative dossier is expected to be prepared for submission to the public prosecutor’s office for formal indictment and subsequent trial proceedings.

Legal representatives for both parties have indicated that they are prepared to contest the allegations within the framework of the Indonesian judicial system. Whether the courts will view the transaction as a deliberate act of fraud or merely a failed commercial agreement complicated by personal animosity will depend on the documentary evidence, financial trails, and witness testimonies presented during the judicial phase.

For followers and observers of the Indonesian entertainment and influencer landscape, the ongoing saga underscores the unpredictable intersection of digital entrepreneurship, personal conflict, and the criminal justice system. As both parties prepare for the next chapters of their legal and public battle, the case continues to resonate as a stark reminder of the complexities and legal liabilities governing modern digital commerce.

Islamic Jurisprudence and the Protocol for Managing Human Remains at Sea

by Lina Hope
written by Lina Hope

The management of human remains is a foundational pillar of Islamic ethics, categorized under the doctrine of fardu kifayah—a communal obligation that must be fulfilled by the collective to ensure the dignity of the deceased. While standard burial practices in Islam mandate interment within the earth, modern maritime travel, commercial shipping, and naval operations occasionally present scenarios where a Muslim passes away in international waters, far removed from land. This reality necessitates a specialized application of Sharia law, balancing the reverence for the human body with the pragmatic constraints of maritime safety and public health.

The Theological Foundation of Burial

In Islamic tradition, the earth is designated as the repository for both the living and the deceased. This concept is explicitly referenced in Surah Al-Mursalat, verses 25-26, which describe the Earth as a gathering place for all humanity. This theological framework underscores the preference for soil-based burial. The historical precedent for this practice is anchored in the Quranic account of Qabil and Habil (Cain and Abel), found in Surah Al-Maidah, verse 31. In this narrative, the act of burying the deceased is presented as a divinely inspired necessity, taught to humanity by a crow, thereby establishing the normative standard for disposing of a body with respect and secrecy.

However, Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) is inherently designed to be flexible when faced with extreme exigencies. When the standard protocol—burial in the earth—becomes impossible or poses a significant threat to the health of the living, secondary protocols are activated.

Maritime Chronology and the Decision-Making Process

When a death occurs aboard a vessel, the captain and the crew are tasked with a complex decision-making process. The primary objective is always to preserve the body for traditional burial. The timeline of this process generally follows a rigorous assessment protocol:

  1. Immediate Notification and Verification: Upon the confirmation of death, the ship’s medical officer or designated official must document the time and cause of death.
  2. Preservation Attempt: If the vessel is equipped with refrigeration facilities or a cold-storage unit, the body is preserved to prevent decomposition. The duration of this storage depends on the ship’s proximity to the nearest port.
  3. Assessment of Transit Time: The ship’s master calculates the time required to reach the nearest coastal territory. If the anticipated transit time is shorter than the period expected for the body to show signs of significant decomposition, the captain is religiously and ethically obligated to proceed to the port to facilitate a proper burial on land.
  4. The Threshold of Decomposition: If the vessel is in the middle of a long-haul voyage—such as trans-Pacific or trans-Atlantic crossings—and the time to reach land exceeds the timeframe for natural decay, the imperative shifts. At this critical juncture, the risk of disease transmission or the loss of the physical integrity of the remains necessitates an alternative.

Islamic Legal Rulings on Burial at Sea

Scholarly consensus, as referenced in various works of Islamic jurisprudence including the Sunan al-Kubra of Imam al-Baihaqi, acknowledges the specific case of Abu Thalhah, who passed away during a maritime expedition. Based on historical accounts and interpretations by modern scholars such as Ustaz Kholid Syamhudi, the ruling is clear: the dignity of the human body must be maintained until the final moment.

The protocol for burial at sea follows these strictly defined steps:

  • Ghusl (Ritual Washing): The body is washed in accordance with Islamic rituals.
  • Kafan (Shrouding): The body is wrapped in white cloth.
  • Janazah (Funeral Prayer): The funeral prayer is performed by the Muslim passengers or crew members aboard.
  • Weighted Immersion: To ensure the body sinks and is not disturbed by marine life or tides, it is typically placed in a weighted container or shroud that allows it to descend rapidly to the seafloor, respecting the body’s need for a resting place away from surface elements.

Public Health and Maritime Regulations

From a secular perspective, the management of deaths at sea is governed by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulations and the laws of the vessel’s flag state. International health regulations dictate that human remains must be handled to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. The intersection of Islamic practice and international maritime law is largely harmonious; both emphasize the containment of the remains to prevent environmental contamination and the preservation of the individual’s dignity.

Maritime experts note that the logistical challenge is not merely religious but also psychological. A death at sea affects the morale of the crew. Therefore, establishing a clear protocol—one that respects the deceased’s faith—serves a dual purpose: it fulfills the religious mandate for the bereaved family and provides a structured, professional procedure for the ship’s command, reducing the trauma associated with the event.

Case Studies and Comparative Analysis

Historical records from naval archives indicate that burial at sea was once a common practice for all sailors, regardless of faith, due to the lack of refrigeration technology. In the contemporary era, however, the frequency of such burials has significantly declined. Most commercial ships now have sophisticated logistics to return remains to the country of origin.

When a Muslim dies at sea, the current industry standard involves:

  • Liaising with Consular Authorities: The ship’s operator contacts the embassy or consulate of the deceased’s nationality to coordinate the handling of the remains.
  • Repatriation Priority: Repatriation is the standard; burial at sea is viewed as a last resort, reserved exclusively for situations where the ship cannot safely reach a port or where the decomposition of the body poses a direct risk to public health.

Broader Implications: Navigating Modern Challenges

The modern Muslim traveler, whether on a cruise ship or a commercial vessel, benefits from a globalized understanding of religious requirements. Major cruise lines and shipping companies now include "Death at Sea" protocols in their safety management manuals. These manuals are increasingly incorporating sections on religious sensitivity, recognizing that burial at sea is a highly emotional and significant event for the family of the deceased.

The analysis of current trends suggests that the need for such protocols will persist. As maritime trade increases and the number of people traveling via sea continues to rise, the ability to facilitate religious burial rituals on board becomes a benchmark of a company’s commitment to crew and passenger welfare.

Furthermore, the theological emphasis on the "dignity of the deceased" serves as a bridge between diverse cultures. By prioritizing the burial of the body rather than simple disposal, Islamic law aligns with global humanitarian standards that demand respect for human remains. This convergence of faith-based practice and international maritime regulation ensures that even in the most remote corners of the ocean, the fundamental rights and sanctity of the human life are upheld.

Conclusion: A Synthesis of Duty and Necessity

The management of a Muslim death at sea is a testament to the adaptability of Islamic law. It demonstrates that the core principles—respect, purity, and prayer—remain constant, even when the environment changes from the terra firma of the earth to the vast, unpredictable expanse of the ocean. By adhering to the established fiqh, the Muslim community ensures that no soul is left without the final rites, reinforcing the idea that the grace of the Creator is not confined to the land, but extends across the seas.

For the maritime industry, the lesson is clear: professionalism in the face of death is not merely a legal requirement, but a moral imperative. By respecting the traditions of the deceased, the maritime community fosters a culture of inclusivity and dignity that transcends borders, ensuring that those who embark on the sea are treated with the utmost care, from the moment of departure to the final committal.

Former Religious Affairs Ministry Staffer Alleges US$1 Million Hajj Quota Corruption Funds Reached Pansus Chair Nusron Wahid

by Azzam Bilal Chamdy
written by Azzam Bilal Chamdy

The ongoing legal proceedings surrounding the high-profile corruption scandal involving the 2023–2024 additional Hajj quota took a dramatic turn at the Jakarta Corruption Court. Ishfah Abidal Azis, a former Special Staffer to former Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas for the 2019–2024 period—frequently known as Gus Alex—testified under oath that a staggering sum of US$1 million was funneled directly to the leadership of the House of Representatives’ (DPR) Special Committee (Pansus) on Hajj 2024.

The assertion was delivered firmly by Ishfah during a court hearing held at the Central Jakarta District Court. According to his testimony, the vast financial distribution was systematically orchestrated to reach Nusron Wahid, who served as the Chairman of the 2024 Hajj Pansus. This disclosure brings a new layer of scrutiny to an already extensive investigation into state financial losses amounting to hundreds of billions of rupiah, spotlighting the intersection of legislative oversight and administrative abuse within Indonesia’s sacred pilgrimage management system.

The Allegation and the Mechanics of the Transfer

Detailing the mechanics of the alleged bribery during an adjournment interview at the Tipikor Court, Ishfah maintained absolute conviction regarding the final destination of the funds. He pointed to a sophisticated intermediary chain utilized to mask the paper trail of the illicit transactions.

"Specifically for that Pansus, it was 1 million US dollars," Ishfah stated to journalists outside the courtroom.

When questioned about how such a massive sum successfully changed hands without immediate detection, Ishfah identified an individual named Zainal Abidin as the primary conduit. According to the former ministerial aide, Zainal functions as a close associate of Nusron Wahid. To further solidify the operational network involved in the delivery, Ishfah noted the presence of two other individuals, identified as Khomsen and Acong, who allegedly facilitated the logistical execution on the ground.

"I am certain it reached Nusron, routed through Zainal Abidin, with individuals named Khomsen and Acong present in the scheme," Ishfah elaborated.

In light of these serious allegations, journalistic attempts were immediately initiated to secure a response from the accused legislative figure. Reporters from major national outlets repeatedly contacted Nusron Wahid via telephone to verify the claims made by his former bureaucratic counterpart. However, at the time of publication, the telephone number registered to Nusron remained entirely inactive, leaving his direct perspective absent from the immediate discourse.

Unraveling the Financial Trail: Testimony of Syaiful Bahri

The courtroom revelations did not emerge in a vacuum; they built upon prior testimonies delivered earlier in the month by co-defendants and key witnesses. At the center of this supporting testimony is Syaiful Bahri—also known as Bajak Laut—a former staff member of the Executive Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU).

During a pivotal evidentiary session earlier in September, both Ishfah and Syaiful Bahri cross-examined the specifics of financial handovers, explicitly confirming the transfer of approximately US$400,000 destined for the DPR Hajj Pansus.

During the courtroom exchanges, Ishfah directly questioned Syaiful regarding the operational directives given to him prior to the handover.

"Does the witness know that at that time, I asked you to meet someone named Erik to hand over a sum of 400 thousand US dollars to fulfill the request of Zainal Abidin, the friend of Pak Nusron Wahid?" Ishfah queried during the hearing.

Syaiful admitted his initial ignorance regarding the ultimate recipient, noting that clarity only came after retrospective inquiry. "At that time I didn’t know, sir, but after a few days I asked you who that actually was, and only then did you tell me," Syaiful responded under oath.

"Only after that did I tell you that Zainal Abidin made a request, then at that time I asked you to hand it over to him, that he is Pak Nusron Wahid’s friend. Correct?" Ishfah pressed further.

"Yes," Syaiful replied.

"Okay. Meaning you understand, right, that it was at the request of Zainal Abidin and I asked you to hand it over through Erik?" Ishfah concluded, to which Syaiful affirmed, "Ready, after being told."

This corroborating testimony solidified the connection between the funds managed by mid-level operatives and the broader political machinery of the legislative inquiry committee. Earlier disclosures in the trial of Asrul Azis Taba—Chairman of the Kesthuri Association and Commissioner of PT Raudah Eksati Utama—revealed that Syaiful had initially been entrusted by Asrul with funds intended for Ishfah, which were subsequently redirected to satisfy the operational demands of the Hajj Pansus under Nusron’s leadership. Furthermore, investigators noted that the supplementary injection of US$400,000 was allegedly prepared by Mohammad Nuruzzaman, a former Special Staffer to the Minister of Religious Affairs for Institutional Relations, who secured the liquidity by taking out loans from various external parties.

Background and Chronology of the Hajj Quota Scandal

The roots of this legal crisis trace back to contentious policy decisions made during the management of the 2023–2024 Hajj seasons. The controversy primarily centers on the controversial allocation of additional Hajj quotas provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Under standard international agreements and domestic religious regulations, the distribution of regular versus special Hajj quotas is bound by strict statutory proportions set by the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) and the Ministry of Religious Affairs in consultation with the House of Representatives.

However, allegations emerged that the Ministry of Religious Affairs arbitrarily modified the quota distribution split—reportedly shifting a significant portion of the additional quota intended for regular pilgrims to special pilgrimage organizers (PIHK), allegedly in exchange for financial kickbacks and operational concessions. This regulatory deviation prompted immense public outcry, leading the House of Representatives to form the special investigative committee (Pansus Haji) in mid-2024 to probe potential administrative malpractice, abuse of power, and corruption within the ministry.

Ironically, the current revelations suggest that the very legislative body established to investigate irregularities may have itself been compromised by financial inducements from stakeholders attempting to influence the committee’s findings or secure favorable recommendations.

The Defendants and the Scope of State Financial Losses

The judicial proceedings currently active at the Jakarta Corruption Court involve four primary defendants whose alleged orchestration of the quota manipulation has caused monumental losses to the state treasury. According to the official Audit Report on Investigative Examinations issued by the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK), the total financial loss sustained by the state in this singular corruption case reaches a staggering Rp622,090,207,166.41—commonly cited as Rp622 billion.

The four individuals formally processed through the criminal justice system are:

  1. Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, the former Minister of Religious Affairs who held the portfolio from 2019 to 2024.
  2. Ishfah Abidal Azis, the former Special Staffer whose recent testimonies have expanded the scope of the investigation into legislative corridors.
  3. Ismail Adham, serving as the Director of Operations for Maktour, a prominent travel agency allegedly implicated in securing preferential quota access.
  4. Asrul Azis Taba, the General Chairman of the Kesthuri Association and Commissioner of PT Raudah Eksati Utama.

Beyond these primary figures, investigative findings indicate that the corrupt practices systematically enriched numerous auxiliary entities, most notably identifying at least 313 Special Hajj Pilgrimage Organizers (PIHK) who reaped massive financial windfalls from the irregular distribution of the pilgrimage slots at the expense of ordinary citizens languishing on decades-long waiting lists.

Broader Implications and Systemic Impact on Governance

The unfolding trial serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities inherent in the administration of religious affairs in Indonesia, a sector historically guarded by public trust yet continually marred by rent-seeking behaviors. The allegation that US$1 million found its way into the hands of a parliamentary oversight committee chair highlights a profound conflict of interest within institutional checks and balances.

When legislative oversight bodies—tasked with investigating executive corruption—become financially entangled with the very ministries they are mandated to audit, the fundamental integrity of democratic governance is deeply compromised. Legal analysts observing the Tipikor proceedings suggest that if prosecutors can substantiate the money trail from the ministry staffers through intermediaries like Zainal Abidin directly to legislative leaders, the fallout could trigger a wider wave of indictments extending deep into the halls of parliament.

As the judicial process moves forward, the primary focus of the court will remain on corroborating the digital and financial trails, testing the veracity of testimonies provided by figures like Ishfah Abidal Azis and Syaiful Bahri, and determining the legal culpability of both executive administrators and legislative overseers. For the millions of Indonesian Muslims awaiting their sacred journey to Mecca, the trial represents both a measure of accountability and a painful exposure of how administrative corruption has historically undermined the pillars of national religious governance.

Everwind Evolves: Sandbox Mode Update Transforms Voxel RPG into a Creative Powerhouse

by Rifan Muazin
written by Rifan Muazin

The survival RPG landscape witnessed a significant shift on Friday, September 25, 2026, as Enjoy Studio officially deployed its most ambitious update to date for the voxel-based title Everwind. Titled "Winds of Creation & Beyond," the update introduces a long-awaited Sandbox Mode, effectively pivoting the game from a strictly survival-focused experience toward a dual-identity platform that caters to both hardcore survivalists and creative builders. This strategic move positions Everwind to compete directly with genre titans like Minecraft, while maintaining its unique aesthetic identity centered on floating archipelagos and aerial navigation.

The Evolution of Everwind: From Survival to Sandbox

Everwind, a game defined by its voxel art style and RPG elements, has historically challenged players to manage resources, navigate perilous floating islands, and master airship travel in a hostile environment. Prior to this update, the game’s core loop was rooted in scarcity—players were required to hunt, gather, and scavenge to survive the harsh elements of its fantasy world.

The "Winds of Creation & Beyond" update fundamentally alters this dynamic. By implementing a dedicated Sandbox Mode, Enjoy Studio has removed the traditional resource-gating mechanisms, allowing users to focus entirely on structural design and mechanical experimentation. This shift reflects a broader trend in the gaming industry where developers are increasingly opting for "hybrid-genre" designs to maximize player retention and broaden demographic appeal.

Technical Breakdown: How Sandbox Mode Functions

The core of the new update is the Sandbox Inventory system. Unlike the standard gameplay mode, where item acquisition is tied to progression and biome-specific risks, Sandbox Mode provides players with an unlimited repository of building materials and tools.

Key features of the Sandbox implementation include:

  • Sandbox Inventory: Instant access to all in-game assets, eliminating the need for farming or crafting progression.
  • Command-Line Integration: Advanced users can utilize chat-based commands to manipulate the game world, including real-time adjustments to global weather patterns, time-of-day cycles, and entity spawning.
  • Testing Environments: The introduction of specialized zones, such as the "One Island" and "Sandbox Islands," allows players to isolate their building projects from the procedural dangers of the main game world.

According to technical documentation released alongside the update, these changes are designed to support complex architectural projects that were previously impossible to achieve within the strict constraints of the survival economy. By allowing players to spawn enemies or change environmental conditions, Enjoy Studio is also providing a sandbox for game design, where players can essentially build their own challenge maps or dioramas.

Chronology of Development

The trajectory of Everwind has been marked by steady growth since its initial early-access phase. The timeline of the game’s development highlights a developer committed to community-led feedback:

  • Q1 2025: Initial release of Everwind, focusing on core survival mechanics and the aerial ship-navigation system.
  • Q3 2025: Community sentiment shifts; forums and social media channels show a high demand for a creative-focused mode to complement the existing RPG systems.
  • Q1 2026: Enjoy Studio confirms the "Winds of Creation & Beyond" roadmap, promising a significant expansion of the world-building toolkit.
  • September 25, 2026: Official deployment of the Sandbox Mode, alongside performance optimizations for the voxel rendering engine.

Industry analysts suggest that this development cycle is indicative of a "service-first" approach. By listening to the vocal segment of their player base that prioritized building over surviving, Enjoy Studio has effectively mitigated the "survival fatigue" that often plagues long-term players of the genre.

Comparative Analysis: Everwind vs. The Market

In the context of the global gaming market, Everwind occupies a unique niche. While Minecraft remains the industry standard for creative expression, its aesthetic is defined by blocky, low-fidelity textures. Everwind, conversely, utilizes a refined voxel engine that leans into a high-fantasy aesthetic, characterized by vibrant color palettes and verticality—specifically the navigation of floating islands via airship.

Data from third-party gaming analytics firms indicates that "creative-focused" gamers account for approximately 40% of the active player base in survival-RPG titles. By offering a mode that rivals the functionality of Creative Mode in Minecraft while keeping the high-fantasy setting of an RPG, Everwind is positioning itself to capture a significant portion of this market segment. Furthermore, the inclusion of airships as a primary mode of transport provides a vertical dimension to building that many other sandbox games lack.

Implications for the RPG Survival Genre

The introduction of a sandbox mode to a traditionally survival-heavy title is not without its risks. Some purists in the Everwind community have expressed concerns that the focus on creative freedom might dilute the stakes of the survival elements. However, Enjoy Studio has maintained that the Sandbox Mode exists as a parallel experience, distinct from the core campaign.

From an economic perspective, this update is likely to boost the game’s longevity. Sandbox games typically foster a "creator economy" where users spend hundreds of hours constructing elaborate cities or fantasy structures, which are then shared on social platforms. This user-generated content acts as a powerful marketing tool, effectively lowering the developer’s acquisition costs for new players.

Expert Perspectives and Community Reception

While official statements from Enjoy Studio management have been limited to technical patch notes, the sentiment among early adopters on public test realms has been overwhelmingly positive. Lead designers have emphasized that the "One Island" biome was a direct response to players who wanted to build without the intrusion of external hostile entities.

"The goal of this update is not to replace the survival experience, but to provide a canvas for the imagination," noted a spokesperson close to the development team. "We wanted to ensure that the mechanics of the game—the building blocks, the weather, and the enemies—are tools in the player’s hand, rather than obstacles in their path."

Looking Ahead: The Future of Everwind

With the release of "Winds of Creation & Beyond," the question now turns to the future of the game’s content pipeline. Developers have hinted that the new voxel-editing tools will eventually allow for the implementation of custom blueprints, which could enable players to share their creations via a centralized hub.

Furthermore, the integration of sandbox features provides a foundation for potential multiplayer server support. If players can eventually host their own "Creative Servers," Everwind could evolve into a social platform, similar to the massive ecosystems seen in titles like Roblox or Hytale.

As the game enters this new phase of its lifecycle, the focus will likely remain on stability and the refinement of the building interface. The ability to manipulate the environment with such precision suggests that the engine is capable of handling significantly more complex structures than originally anticipated.

In conclusion, the September 2026 update represents a pivotal moment for Everwind. By successfully bridging the gap between a high-stakes survival game and an open-ended creative sandbox, Enjoy Studio has demonstrated the agility required to succeed in a crowded market. Whether this update will be enough to propel Everwind to the top of the charts remains to be seen, but the tools provided to the player base are arguably among the most flexible in the current voxel-RPG genre. The shift towards creative freedom is not merely a feature addition; it is a fundamental transformation of the game’s core value proposition, ensuring its relevance in a gaming landscape that increasingly rewards player agency and creative expression.

Pakar Ekonomi Soroti Kebijakan Investasi dan Lapangan Kerja Pemerintahan Prabowo-Gibran di Tengah Dinamika Global

by Neng Nana
written by Neng Nana

JAKARTA — Economic experts have placed the economic policy trajectory of the Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka administration under close observation, particularly regarding its core focus on boosting investment and accelerating job creation amidst persistent global economic uncertainties. As geopolitical tensions, shifting supply chains, and fluctuating commodity prices continue to challenge emerging markets, Indonesia’s strategic pivot toward capital accumulation and workforce expansion has emerged as a central theme in national economic discourse.

During a recent televised policy dialogue in Jakarta, prominent economist and University of Indonesia professor Telisa Falianty offered a comprehensive assessment of the nation’s current economic standing. According to Prof. Telisa, Indonesia’s foundational macroeconomic indicators remain remarkably resilient despite external headwinds. National economic growth has consistently hovered above the 5 percent threshold, inflation remains well-controlled within the target band of around 3 percent, and the open unemployment rate has experienced a notable downward trajectory, settling at 4.65 percent.

The administration’s policy blueprint places substantial emphasis on attracting foreign and domestic capital while shielding vulnerable populations from inflationary pressures. Observers note that maintaining stability in utility pricing and controlling state fiscal buffers are deliberate strategies designed to sustain prioritized development programs without exacerbating the cost-of-living crisis for everyday citizens.

Macroeconomic Resilience and Policy Framework

The resilience of Indonesia’s macroeconomic fundamentals has provided the current administration with the fiscal and monetary space necessary to pursue ambitious structural reforms. In an interconnected global economy vulnerable to protectionist policies and monetary tightening by major central banks, Indonesia has maintained a relatively stable growth trajectory.

The government’s strategic emphasis on downstreaming natural resources, expanding industrial zones, and streamlining regulatory frameworks via the Job Creation Law has served as the backbone for investment attraction. By encouraging value-addition within domestic borders rather than exporting raw materials, the administration aims to capture a larger share of the global supply chain value, ultimately generating higher-paying employment opportunities for a burgeoning domestic workforce.

Fiscal prudence remains a cornerstone of this economic architecture. By intentionally maintaining stability in state-regulated tariffs—such as electricity rates and subsidized fuel prices—alongside careful management of social assistance disbursements like BPJS health insurance contributions, the government has sought to preserve domestic purchasing power. This delicate balancing act aims to stimulate aggregate demand while simultaneously channeling state revenues into capital expenditure and human capital development.

Microeconomic Improvements and Social Welfare Indicators

While macroeconomic aggregates present a positive picture, the intersection between top-tier growth and microeconomic realities remains a critical focal point for policymakers and independent analysts alike. Over the past five years, national data has indicated gradual improvements in poverty reduction metrics and income inequality coefficients.

However, economists caution that structural challenges persist, particularly concerning the socio-economic vulnerabilities of the urban and rural middle class. Recent reflections on national milestones, including discussions surrounding the burdens shouldered by the emerging middle class, underscore the necessity of targeted interventions that extend beyond basic poverty alleviation. Families straddling the poverty line and the lower-middle-class demographic often find themselves exposed to price shocks and limited upward mobility, making inclusive economic growth an urgent imperative.

To address these micro-level disparities, the administration has rolled out various labor market interventions designed to bridge the skills gap and integrate marginalized demographics into the formal economy. Vocational training programs, subsidized apprenticeship initiatives, and localized job fairs have been deployed across numerous provinces in coordination with regional governments.

The Vital Role of Youth Employment and Apprenticeship Programs

A focal point of the recent economic discussions centered on the acute demand for structured employment opportunities among Indonesia’s younger demographic. With a substantial portion of the population comprising Millennials and Generation Z, harnessing the demographic dividend is essential for long-term national prosperity.

Prof. Telisa highlighted the overwhelming public interest in recent government-backed apprenticeship programs, characterizing the high participation rates as a clear indicator of systemic demand among youth seeking viable entry points into the professional sphere. "Program lapangan kerja, kemarin ada program magang yang banyak peminatnya. Artinya generasi muda banyak yang membutuhkan," she stated during the broadcast, emphasizing that young Indonesians are actively seeking avenues to gain practical work experience and enhance their employability.

Despite the high demand, experts stress that the success of such initiatives relies heavily on effective implementation, robust institutional oversight, and comprehensive dissemination of information. Ensuring that vocational and apprenticeship programs reach remote regions outside major urban centers requires active collaboration between central ministries, local government bodies, and mass media channels to maximize transparency and accessibility.

Chronology of Policy Implementation and Recent Developments

The evolution of Indonesia’s current economic policy orientation can be traced through a series of strategic milestones leading up to the current administration’s tenure:

  1. Post-Pandemic Economic Recovery (2021–2023): Following the global disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic, Indonesian economic policies focused heavily on fiscal consolidation, stabilizing national healthcare systems, and reviving micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
  2. Transition of Administration and Continuity (Late 2024): The inauguration of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka marked a formal commitment to maintaining previous structural reforms while introducing intensified programs centered on food security, energy independence, and targeted social safety nets.
  3. Mid-2025 Fiscal Review: Mid-term evaluations by independent economic think tanks highlighted the administration’s success in keeping inflation under control despite global supply chain fluctuations, though warnings were issued regarding fiscal space constraints.
  4. Late 2026 Policy Dialogues (Current Period): Prominent economists, including representatives from academia and private financial sectors, convened in Jakarta to evaluate the tangible impacts of investment-driven policies, noting improvements in the open unemployment rate while calling for tighter coordination on grassroots job placement programs.

Broader Implications and Future Outlook

Looking ahead, the long-term viability of the Prabowo-Gibran economic agenda will depend on its ability to navigate complex domestic and international variables. On the global front, potential shifts in international trade policies, geopolitical realignments, and commodity market volatility pose ongoing risks to export-oriented sectors. Domestically, maintaining investor confidence requires legal certainty, regulatory consistency, and continuous improvements in bureaucratic efficiency and anti-corruption measures.

Furthermore, economists emphasize that job creation must not only be measured in quantitative terms but also in qualitative enhancement. Transitioning workers from the massive informal sector into formal, protected employment arrangements remains a monumental task that requires sustained investment in education, digital literacy, and technological infrastructure.

As Indonesia continues its pursuit of becoming a high-income nation, the alignment between macroeconomic stability and microeconomic welfare will remain the ultimate test for policymakers. Through balanced fiscal management, targeted labor market integration, and strategic international partnerships, the administration aims to solidify an economic foundation capable of weathering external shocks while delivering tangible prosperity to all segments of society.

written by Asro

PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero), the state-owned construction giant, has solidified its position as a cornerstone of Indonesia’s national development agenda by securing the prestigious Prominent Awards 2026. The accolade, specifically in the category of “Excellence in High-Impact Infrastructure Delivery,” was presented during an exclusive ceremony held in Jakarta on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. This recognition highlights the company’s evolving role from a traditional construction firm into a socio-economic catalyst that prioritizes long-term utility over mere physical completion.

The Prominent Awards, now in its fourth consecutive year, serves as a benchmark for excellence across Indonesia’s corporate and institutional landscape. The 2026 edition, themed "Indonesia Berdaya" (Empowered Indonesia), focused on acknowledging entities that have demonstrated resilience, innovation, and a tangible contribution to the national economy. Out of hundreds of nominees, Brantas Abipraya was selected as one of the 33 winners, distinguished by its unique ability to integrate complex engineering solutions with community-centric goals.

The Evolution of Infrastructure: Beyond Concrete and Steel

The core philosophy driving Brantas Abipraya’s recent success lies in a paradigm shift within the construction sector. For years, the industry was evaluated based on project timelines and budgetary adherence. However, the current economic climate demands that infrastructure projects—whether dams, bridges, or educational facilities—serve as sustainable engines for local growth.

Dian Sovana, the Corporate Secretary of PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero), emphasized that the company’s success is measured by the quality of life improvements experienced by the beneficiaries of their projects. "For us, a work of infrastructure does not cease the moment construction concludes," Sovana stated during the acceptance speech. "The true value of a project is realized when that infrastructure becomes a functional part of daily life, addressing specific needs and fostering societal development. This is the guiding principle that informs our strategic planning and execution across all state-mandated assignments."

Strategic Projects: The 18 Sekolah Rakyat Initiative

A clear illustration of this philosophy is the company’s recent completion of 18 "Sekolah Rakyat" (People’s Schools). These educational facilities were strategically placed in regions requiring urgent infrastructure intervention, including Kalimantan Selatan, Sulawesi Tenggara, West Java (Jabar 1 and Jabar 2), East Java, North Sulawesi, and Lampung.

The rollout of these schools follows a rigorous assessment of regional education gaps. By constructing these facilities, Brantas Abipraya is not merely delivering buildings; it is providing the physical foundation for human capital development. The design of these schools incorporates local environmental considerations, ensuring that the structures are not only durable but also conducive to effective learning environments. This initiative is part of a broader commitment to supporting the Indonesian government’s goal of achieving equitable educational access across the archipelago.

Furthermore, the company’s recent international footprint, exemplified by the construction of the Sekolah Indonesia Kuala Lumpur (SIKL) in Malaysia—a facility designed to accommodate 800 students—demonstrates their capacity to deliver high-impact social infrastructure even in complex overseas environments.

Addressing National Challenges: Water Security and Climate Resilience

While educational infrastructure represents the human-centric side of their portfolio, Brantas Abipraya remains deeply entrenched in water resources management. As Indonesia faces the dual pressures of population growth and the shifting, unpredictable patterns of climate change, the demand for water security has become a matter of national strategic importance.

Recent reports from the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) indicate that several regions in Indonesia are increasingly susceptible to prolonged drought cycles, which threaten agricultural output and local water supplies. Brantas Abipraya has responded by accelerating the development of multi-purpose dams and irrigation systems designed to mitigate these risks. These projects are engineered to serve as water reservoirs during the dry season and flood mitigation tools during the monsoon, thereby providing a dual-layered protection for rural economies.

Bukti Kiprah Brantas Abipraya Hadirkan Infrastruktur Berdampak bagi Masyarakat

The company’s focus on "high-impact" delivery means that these water projects are integrated with local water distribution networks. By ensuring that the water actually reaches the end-user—whether it be a farmer’s irrigation channel or a municipal water utility—Brantas Abipraya is bridging the gap between raw construction capacity and functional utility.

Chronology and Context: The Path to Prominent Awards 2026

The journey to the Prominent Awards 2026 was marked by a series of strategic milestones for Brantas Abipraya. Following the challenges posed by the global economic recovery period in 2024 and 2025, the company underwent a restructuring of its project management methodologies.

  • Early 2025: The company adopted a "Benefit-First" construction framework, requiring all new projects to undergo a socio-economic impact assessment before breaking ground.
  • Mid-2025: The successful completion of the SIKL project in Kuala Lumpur set a new standard for the company’s international project management, proving that their logistical chains were robust enough to handle complex cross-border requirements.
  • Late 2025: The initiation of the 18 Sekolah Rakyat program across seven provinces demonstrated the company’s ability to manage multi-site projects simultaneously without compromising quality or safety standards.
  • Q1-Q2 2026: Brantas Abipraya intensified its focus on water security, securing several key contracts for dam rehabilitation and new water infrastructure in response to intensified regional drought alerts.
  • September 2026: The receipt of the Prominent Awards 2026 serves as an external validation of these strategic pivots.

Data-Driven Impact Analysis

The impact of these infrastructure projects is quantifiable. By prioritizing high-impact delivery, Brantas Abipraya has contributed to a measurable reduction in project downtime and a higher utilization rate of public facilities. In the context of the Sekolah Rakyat project, the provision of 800-student capacity in Kuala Lumpur alone serves as a vital anchor for the Indonesian diaspora community.

Similarly, in the water sector, the company’s recent dam projects are estimated to support the irrigation of over 50,000 hectares of farmland, directly impacting the livelihoods of thousands of households. Analysts suggest that such infrastructure is essential to maintaining Indonesia’s food security targets. The "Excellence in High-Impact Infrastructure Delivery" award is, therefore, not just an accolade for the company, but a reflection of the success of the Indonesian government’s push to leverage State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) as primary drivers of national stability.

The Road Ahead: Challenges and Future Outlook

Despite the recognition, the road ahead remains complex. Brantas Abipraya faces the ongoing challenge of maintaining high performance while navigating the rising costs of raw materials and the logistical complexities of working in Indonesia’s remote, mountainous, and archipelagic regions.

Industry experts note that the company’s future success will likely depend on its ability to integrate digital transformation into its construction lifecycle. Technologies such as Building Information Modeling (BIM) and drone-based site monitoring have already begun to be integrated into their workflows, allowing for real-time adjustments and increased precision.

The shift toward sustainable and eco-friendly construction is another frontier. With global environmental standards becoming more stringent, the next phase of the company’s development will likely focus on "green infrastructure"—projects that minimize carbon footprints during the construction phase and maximize energy efficiency during the operational phase.

Conclusion: A Legacy in the Making

The recognition of PT Brantas Abipraya at the Prominent Awards 2026 confirms that the company has successfully transitioned its corporate identity to align with the evolving needs of the Indonesian populace. By viewing infrastructure not as an end in itself but as a means to achieve social stability, economic growth, and regional resilience, the company is positioning itself as a vital partner in the nation’s progress.

As Indonesia continues to pursue its goal of becoming a global economic power by 2045, the role of companies like Brantas Abipraya will only grow in significance. Their ability to deliver high-impact projects that reach the grassroots level—from schools in remote districts to water systems that sustain local agriculture—is the benchmark by which future development will be judged. For now, the Prominent Awards 2026 serves as a timely acknowledgment of a company that has successfully built a bridge between technical expertise and the real-world needs of the people it serves.

Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Debunks Hoax Regarding Pertalite Fuel Price Hike to Rp13,500 Per Liter

by Rifan Muazin
written by Rifan Muazin

Jakarta — The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has officially refuted viral social media reports claiming that the price of the subsidized fuel Pertalite would increase to Rp13,500 per liter starting September 26, 2026. The government reaffirmed that pricing for subsidized energy products remains stable despite ongoing fluctuations in global crude oil markets and geopolitical uncertainties.

The clarification was issued following a massive wave of misleading content across multiple social media platforms. The false reports alleged that the government was preparing to adjust the price of Pertalite—currently maintained at Rp10,000 per liter—to align with international oil benchmarks, reduce state budget subsidies, enhance energy security, and encourage fuel efficiency. Officials have firmly categorized these claims as entirely fabricated.

Official Clarification and Government Stance

Speaking in Jakarta, ESDM Ministry Spokesperson Dwi Anggia formally addressed the circulating rumors, emphasizing that the information lacks any factual basis.

"We need to clarify that there is currently a massive volume of social media content containing information about a Pertalite price hike. This content and information is a hoax or fake news," Dwi Anggia stated on Thursday, September 24, 2026.

Anggia underscored that Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia has repeatedly stated across various public forums that the prices of subsidized fuels, namely Pertalite and Biosolar, will not be increased. This commitment holds firm even when global crude oil prices exhibit upward trends.

ESDM Bantah Harga Pertalite Naik Jadi Rp13.500 per Liter: Hoaks!

In light of the widespread misinformation, the Ministry has urged the Indonesian public to exercise greater caution and critical thinking when consuming digital content. Citizens are advised to avoid being easily provoked by unauthorized sources or inflammatory narratives designed to elicit public anxiety.

"Seek information from official sources and verified media outlets," Anggia added.

The circulating hoax claimed that the hypothetical price adjustment from Rp10,000 to Rp13,500 per liter was scheduled for implementation on September 26, 2026. However, this narrative starkly contradicts the official policy framework outlined by the administration of President Prabowo Subianto, which prioritizes the protection of purchasing power for lower- and middle-income households.

Broader Economic Context and Global Pressures

The decision to maintain subsidized fuel prices is rooted in a deliberate strategy to shield domestic consumers from external economic shocks. Minister Bahlil Lahadalia has consistently maintained that safeguarding the welfare of ordinary citizens remains the paramount objective of the national energy policy. The Ministry continues to monitor global crude oil dynamics closely under the directives of the central government, ensuring that domestic energy pricing remains insulated from sudden international volatility.

Echoing these sentiments, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto previously confirmed that the prices of subsidized fuels will not experience any upward adjustments through the end of 2026. Airlangga pointed out that the global economic landscape remains plagued by uncertainty, driven notably by protracted geopolitical conflicts, including the ongoing war in Ukraine and disruptions in critical trade corridors such as the Strait of Hormuz.

Despite these external pressures, Airlangga emphasized that Indonesia possesses the fiscal mechanisms necessary to absorb and mitigate the impact of global instability. The primary instrument for this buffer is the state budget (APBN), which allows the government to absorb international price spikes through energy subsidies and compensation funds without transferring the financial burden directly to the public.

ESDM Bantah Harga Pertalite Naik Jadi Rp13.500 per Liter: Hoaks!

Implications of Energy Subsidies on the National Budget

The maintenance of energy subsidies plays a critical role in stabilizing Indonesia’s broader macroeconomic environment. Subsidized fuels like Pertalite and Biosolar act as a foundational cost anchor for the transportation, logistics, and agricultural sectors. Allowing these prices to surge uncheckedly would likely trigger a cascading inflationary effect, raising the cost of basic goods and services and directly eroding the purchasing power of vulnerable populations.

Economic analysts note that while maintaining fixed energy prices protects consumers in the short term, it places a substantial fiscal demand on the APBN. When global oil prices trade significantly higher than the baseline assumptions embedded in the state budget, the government must allocate additional funds for energy compensation payments to state-owned energy enterprise PT Pertamina (Persero).

Nevertheless, the administration’s current fiscal posture indicates a strong willingness to utilize budgetary buffers to prioritize social stability. By relying on state revenue surpluses and strategic fiscal management, policymakers have successfully insulated the domestic market from the full brunt of geopolitical supply chain disruptions.

Combating Misinformation in the Digital Era

The rapid spread of the Pertalite price hike hoax highlights ongoing vulnerabilities within the digital information ecosystem in Indonesia. False narratives regarding staple goods and energy prices frequently circulate on platforms like TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), and WhatsApp groups, often exploiting public anxieties surrounding inflation and the cost of living.

Government agencies, independent fact-checkers, and mainstream media organizations continue to face the challenge of countering viral misinformation rapidly. Officials reiterate that any official policy changes regarding fuel tariffs, taxation, or fiscal adjustments would invariably be announced through official state channels, cabinet press briefings, and recognized press releases rather than anonymous social media posts.

As the situation stabilizes following the Ministry’s prompt refutation, authorities continue to urge citizens to verify sensitive economic news through credible journalistic institutions. The government maintains that energy stability remains a cornerstone of national security, and public policy will continue to prioritize economic resilience and the protection of the Indonesian populace.

BMKG Head Teuku Faisal Fathani Reveals Shallow Well Drilling Technique to Combat Forest and Land Fires in Peatlands

by Nana Wu
written by Nana Wu

The Head of the Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG), Teuku Faisal Fathani, has unveiled an innovative tactical approach involving shallow well drilling to address and mitigate recurrent forest and land fires, commonly known in Indonesia as karhutla. Speaking after a high-level limited cabinet meeting at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Thursday, September 24, 2026, Faisal detailed the strategy discussed directly with President Prabowo Subianto. The primary focus of this methodology centers on vulnerable peatland ecosystems, which have historically presented severe challenges during firefighting operations due to subterranean combustion that defies traditional surface extinguishing methods.

The introduction of this technique marks a strategic evolution in Indonesia’s ongoing battle against seasonal fires that frequently blanket parts of Sumatra and Kalimantan in hazardous haze, impacting regional public health, education, and economic stability. By shifting toward proactive ground-level interventions backed by tactical hydrological management, the government aims to suppress fires swiftly before they escalate into massive environmental catastrophes.

Mechanics of the Shallow Drilling Technique

The shallow well drilling technique operates on the principle of localized water extraction to feed portable high-pressure pumps. According to Faisal, this method empowers ground task forces to establish immediate water sources directly adjacent to or within fire-prone sectors, bypassing the logistical nightmare of transporting water via tankers over charred or inaccessible terrain.

Once a shallow well is drilled into the water table—which is typically high in peatland regions—portable pumps are deployed to extract the subterranean water. This setup creates a localized fire suppression radius spanning approximately 200 meters from each drilling point.

"If we look at how we are strengthening our capabilities, it is the ground task force that we are reinforcing to directly tackle forest and land fires in affected areas," Faisal stated. "There are several methods and numerous techniques that were discussed, one of which is shallow drilling, followed by pumping using portable equipment to extinguish fires within roughly a 200-meter radius from the drilling point."

This approach addresses one of the primary logistical bottlenecks in peatland firefighting: the scarcity of accessible surface water during prolonged dry spells. Peatlands are inherently carbon-rich wetlands that, when drained or dried out, become highly combustible down to several meters below the surface. Traditional surface water spraying often fails because it only cools the top layer while underground peat continues to smolder. By utilizing shallow wells, firefighters can continuously saturate the peat layers from within the affected zone, effectively drowning the fire from the roots up.

Broader Institutional Framework and Community Integration

The discussion surrounding shallow well drilling did not occur in a vacuum. It forms part of a comprehensive national strategy spearheaded by President Prabowo Subianto to restructure and optimize Indonesia’s disaster prevention and environmental management architecture. During the same cabinet sessions, the administration announced the establishment of the National Peatland and Mangrove Management Agency (Badan Pengelola Gambut dan Mangrove Nasional), which operates directly under the authority of the President. This institutional elevation underscores the gravity with which the current administration views ecological preservation and climate resilience.

Complementing the technological deployment of shallow wells and the overarching mandate of the new agency is a strong emphasis on community-level preparedness. The government has prioritized the mobilization of rural populations through specialized entities known as Fire Care Community Groups (Kelompok Masyarakat Peduli Api). These grassroots organizations are trained to act as first responders, capable of implementing early suppression measures and enforcing fire prevention protocols around local settlements before professional task forces arrive.

By combining top-down policy directives, advanced meteorological early warning systems provided by BMKG, localized hydrological engineering like shallow wells, and bottom-up community vigilance, Indonesia is attempting a multi-layered defense mechanism against the perennial threat of karhutla.

Background Context and Historical Chronology of Karhutla in Indonesia

Forest and land fires have posed a persistent environmental, economic, and diplomatic challenge for Indonesia for decades. The crisis typically peaks during the dry season, which is often exacerbated by climate phenomena such as El Niño, leading to prolonged drought conditions across the archipelago.

Historically, the chronology of major karhutla events reveals severe ecological and economic setbacks:

  • 1997–1998: One of the worst fire crises in Indonesian history, fueled by a severe El Niño event, resulting in millions of hectares of burned land, massive carbon emissions, and a thick haze that disrupted regional aviation and public health across Southeast Asia.
  • 2015: Another catastrophic fire season scorched approximately 2.6 million hectares of land, predominantly in Sumatra and Kalimantan, causing an estimated USD 16 billion in economic losses and triggering widespread respiratory illnesses.
  • 2019: Despite improved policy frameworks and stricter law enforcement, another significant surge in fires burned nearly 1.6 million hectares, prompting a renewed push by the government to revamp peatland restoration initiatives.
  • 2020–2024: Enhanced monitoring, rapid response protocols, and favorable La Niña conditions in certain years helped suppress widespread fires, though localized hotspots continued to threaten biodiversity and air quality.
  • 2025–2026: The current administration under President Prabowo Subianto transitioned toward structural reforms, culminating in the creation of specialized management agencies and the adoption of localized tactical innovations like the shallow well method introduced by BMKG in late September 2026.

The vulnerability of Indonesian peatlands is rooted in historical land conversion practices. Peatlands naturally store vast quantities of carbon. When these areas are drained for agricultural expansion, particularly for palm oil and pulpwood plantations, the dry organic matter becomes highly susceptible to ignition. Once ignited, peat fires are notoriously difficult to extinguish, often burning underground for weeks or months, defying rainstorms and emitting immense quantities of greenhouse gases.

Expert Analysis and Strategic Implications

Environmental analysts and disaster management experts have cautiously welcomed the introduction of the shallow well technique, viewing it as a pragmatic tactical adjustment. For years, critics argued that Indonesia’s firefighting strategy relied too heavily on expensive and reactive aerial water bombing, which treats symptoms rather than the root cause and is heavily constrained by thick smoke and weather conditions.

By empowering ground task forces with decentralized, low-cost hydrological tools like portable pumps and shallow wells, the government is shifting toward a more sustainable and economically viable intervention model. Ground operations, when properly equipped and strategically positioned, offer higher precision in extinguishing subterranean peat fires compared to indiscriminate aerial drops.

Furthermore, the integration of local communities through the Fire Care Community Groups addresses the human element of fire prevention. Empirical data from previous wildfire seasons consistently shows that the vast majority of fires are ignited by human activity—either through land-clearing practices for smallholder agriculture or accidental negligence. Empowering villagers to monitor, report, and initiate early containment creates an immediate deterrent network that state agencies alone cannot achieve over Indonesia’s vast archipelagic landscape.

However, experts emphasize that while shallow wells and community policing are vital tactical tools, long-term success will ultimately depend on rigorous enforcement of moratoriums on peatland drainage, mandatory restoration of degraded hydrological functions, and addressing the socio-economic drivers of slash-and-burn practices.

As Indonesia navigates intensifying climate volatility, the combination of advanced meteorological forecasting from BMKG, institutional oversight under the newly formed National Peatland and Mangrove Management Agency, and ground-level innovations like shallow well drilling establishes a comprehensive framework designed to safeguard the nation’s ecological integrity and public well-being for the foreseeable future.

Bukan Cuma Bikin Stres, Sering Overthinking Dikaitkan dengan Risiko Penurunan Kognitif

by Ali Ikhwan
written by Ali Ikhwan

The Neurological Implications of Repetitive Negative Thinking

The recent disclosure by medical experts, including Dr. Adam Prabata, highlights a growing body of evidence connecting psychological states to neurobiological outcomes. According to these findings, individuals who frequently engage in RNT exhibit a heightened susceptibility to cognitive impairment. The mechanism behind this is believed to involve the persistent activation of the body’s stress response system. When the brain is locked in a cycle of negativity, it remains in a state of chronic high alert, leading to an elevated production of cortisol and other stress-related hormones.

Over time, this hormonal imbalance can have a neurotoxic effect, particularly on the hippocampus—a region of the brain critical for memory formation and spatial navigation. The degradation of these pathways is not merely a symptom of mental fatigue; it is a precursor to clinical cognitive decline. Researchers have observed that the repetitive nature of these thoughts mirrors the cognitive patterns seen in the early stages of neurodegenerative diseases, suggesting that the brain’s inability to "switch off" negative ruminations may serve as a biomarker for future cognitive dysfunction.

Understanding Repetitive Negative Thinking (RNT)

Repetitive Negative Thinking is an umbrella term that encompasses several cognitive styles, including rumination—a tendency to focus on past distress—and worry, which focuses on potential future threats. Unlike problem-solving, which is goal-oriented and constructive, RNT is characterized by its circular nature. The individual feels compelled to revisit negative scenarios repeatedly without reaching a resolution.

Bukan Cuma Bikin Stres, Sering Overthinking Dikaitkan dengan Risiko Penurunan Kognitif

Psychological studies have demonstrated that RNT is a transdiagnostic factor, meaning it cuts across various clinical diagnoses. It is a common thread in patients suffering from Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). However, the latest research suggests that the danger extends beyond these psychiatric labels. Even in individuals without a formal diagnosis, chronic engagement in negative thinking patterns can lead to a measurable thinning of the cerebral cortex and a reduction in white matter integrity, both of which are essential for processing information efficiently.

Scientific Correlation with Alzheimer’s Disease

The link between RNT and Alzheimer’s disease has become a focal point of geriatric and psychiatric research. Recent studies have identified a correlation between high levels of RNT and the accumulation of two primary protein aggregates associated with Alzheimer’s: amyloid-beta and tau.

Amyloid-beta plaques and tau tangles are the hallmark signatures of Alzheimer’s pathology. While the exact causal relationship remains under investigation, the theory is that chronic stress—driven by the mental toll of RNT—promotes the production and aggregation of these proteins. Furthermore, the persistent neuroinflammation caused by chronic stress inhibits the brain’s "clearance" systems, which are responsible for removing metabolic waste products. When these systems are overwhelmed, proteins like amyloid-beta begin to accumulate, eventually leading to the formation of plaques that disrupt neural communication and cause neuronal death.

A Timeline of Research Development

The shift in understanding the brain-mind connection has evolved significantly over the last decade.

Bukan Cuma Bikin Stres, Sering Overthinking Dikaitkan dengan Risiko Penurunan Kognitif
  • 2015-2017: Initial studies began to focus on the impact of chronic stress on the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. Researchers confirmed that prolonged stress significantly impacts the executive functions of the frontal lobe.
  • 2019-2020: A landmark study published in journals specializing in gerontology provided the first strong epidemiological evidence linking "habitual negative thinking" to the accumulation of amyloid-beta in cognitively healthy older adults.
  • 2022-2023: Advanced neuroimaging techniques allowed researchers to map the specific brain regions that atrophy in patients with high RNT scores. This period solidified the connection between mental health maintenance and long-term neuro-protection.
  • 2024-Present: Medical experts like Dr. Adam Prabata have begun to integrate these findings into public health discourse, emphasizing that brain health is not just about genetics or physical exercise, but also about cognitive hygiene.

Clinical Perspectives and Expert Analysis

Health professionals stress that while these findings are concerning, they also offer a pathway for intervention. If repetitive negative thinking is a contributor to cognitive decline, then cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), and other psychological interventions could potentially serve as preventative measures against dementia.

"The brain is remarkably plastic," notes one clinical psychologist familiar with the research. "While chronic negativity can induce physical changes, the opposite is also true. Techniques that encourage cognitive flexibility, such as reframing thoughts and practicing present-moment awareness, can help strengthen neural pathways associated with resilience."

The analysis suggests that the medical community must transition from a reactive approach to a proactive one. Instead of waiting for cognitive decline to manifest, clinicians should screen patients for high levels of rumination and anxiety as part of a standard cognitive health assessment. Early detection of persistent negative thought patterns could be the key to slowing the progression of neurodegenerative processes before they reach a clinical tipping point.

The Broader Societal Impact

The societal implications of these findings are vast. In an era of rapid information consumption and increasing global uncertainty, the prevalence of "overthinking" is on the rise. If a significant portion of the population is trapped in a cycle of RNT, the long-term public health burden—specifically in terms of Alzheimer’s and other dementias—could increase substantially.

Bukan Cuma Bikin Stres, Sering Overthinking Dikaitkan dengan Risiko Penurunan Kognitif

This underscores the importance of mental health literacy in the general population. Recognizing the difference between productive reflection and destructive overthinking is a vital skill. Furthermore, it highlights the need for public health policies that prioritize mental well-being as a cornerstone of physical health. Corporate wellness programs, educational curricula that teach emotional regulation, and increased access to mental health services are not just "luxuries"; they are essential investments in the cognitive longevity of the workforce and the elderly.

Managing Cognitive Health: Practical Steps

For those concerned about the impacts of RNT, experts recommend several evidence-based strategies to mitigate the risk:

  1. Mindfulness Meditation: By training the brain to observe thoughts without judgment, individuals can learn to break the loop of rumination.
  2. Cognitive Reframing: This involves identifying irrational or catastrophic thoughts and replacing them with balanced, evidence-based alternatives.
  3. Physical Activity: Regular aerobic exercise has been shown to reduce cortisol levels and promote the production of Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF), which supports the growth and maintenance of neurons.
  4. Structured Worry Time: Rather than allowing thoughts to cycle all day, setting aside a specific 15-minute window to "worry" or address concerns can help contain these thoughts and prevent them from dominating the day.
  5. Seeking Professional Help: If overthinking is interfering with daily life, sleep, or work, consultation with a therapist or psychiatrist is essential. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) remains the gold standard for treating the underlying triggers of RNT.

Conclusion: The Future of Brain Health

The connection between the mind and the brain is inextricably linked. The research shared by experts like Dr. Adam Prabata serves as a crucial reminder that our internal dialogue has tangible consequences. While we cannot always control the stressors we face, we can change our cognitive response to them.

As we move forward, the scientific community is expected to delve deeper into the specific neural circuits involved in RNT. With continued research, we may one day see specific pharmaceutical or digital therapeutic interventions designed to help the brain "reset" from these damaging cycles. Until then, the most effective tool at our disposal remains a conscious commitment to mental health, recognizing that protecting our peace of mind is, quite literally, protecting our future brain health. The path toward a healthy aging process involves not just a balanced diet and regular exercise, but also a dedicated effort to silence the negative internal noise that, if left unchecked, can compromise our cognitive legacy.
