Meta urged by US states to combat Facebook, Instagram account hijackings

NEW YORK : Forty U.S. states and Washington, D.C. known as on Meta Platforms to crack down on scammers who hijack Fb and Instagram accounts, to take care of a “dramatic” surge in myth takeovers.

In a letter to Meta’s chief lawyer, states led by Fresh York Legal official Traditional Letitia James said fraudsters are “a hit the battle and running rampant on Meta,” after the firm in November 2022 equipped hundreds of job cuts serious about security and privacy.

Also signing the letter had been Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, Fresh Hampshire, Fresh Jersey, Fresh Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

In October, 41 states and Washington, D.C. sued Meta, claiming the firm designed its platforms to addict teens, unfavorable their psychological health.
